This cabinet is remarkably durable for a lightweight plastic unit. We first used it for storing tools in our garage in MI. Then it survived the trip in a POD when we moved to FL. Recently, we were happy to find two more cabinets that matched the original one for additional storage in our new garage. Here's the testament to their durability: the new cabinets were FedEx-ed from WA to FL, and by the time we received them, the boxes they came in were in tatters. In fact, they were in such ragged condition that I took pictures of the boxes before unpacking them in case I needed to return damaged units. The cabinets were fine, however, and we had no trouble assembling them.
I too just put together 5 of these, and everything went smoothly in the assembly after I figured out why one of the floor holes was out on each of the cabinets. When you put the bases on, three of the holes fit, but the last one is out about 1/4 inch. After fooling around for a bit I realized that if I placed the handle of the rubber mallet under the center of the base at the back and wedged (pivoted) it up to raise the center of the base the last hole would pop into the corner rods. When I did this the whole unit tightened up.
I have used Rubbermaid products before and I have always been satisfied with their quality and ease of assembly
The cabinet is well made and solid, however I expected better quality from an American made product. Some of the holes were not cut completely through and some were off center. One hole took a considerable amount of cutting to fit. After making adjustments, the cabinet fits my needs. VERY disappointed in quality.
We purchased two of these from a recommendation, however we've been very disappointed. The doors "stick" and are hard to open and close because there are no washers, it has plastic on plastic. We also had to cut numerous pieces ourselves because both cabinets were not punched correctly in production. 15 minutes was certainly not enough to recut everything and then place together. Quality is much poorer than expected.
I reviewed several cabinets before making a purchase, and decided to buy this Rubbermaid cabinet, believing that Rubbermaid is a superior brand and would result in better quality. I couldn't have been more wrong. The quick and easy assembly was hampered by the fact that I had to trim every opening just to be able to put it together. Plastic slugs were all over my floor after assembly, as they are left inside the components after punching. The holes in the walls and doors are all punced off-center, and most are not completely punched, resulting in a huge struggle to make the parts fit together. After assembly, the doors stick horribly and are extremely difficult to open. The "lock" holes are so small that no typical padlock can be used. The shelves are not adjustable, and the unit is not deep enough to store a socket set or a typical power tool box. I paid 20% more than the competition for this unit. It will be the last I purchase from this manufacturer.
Walmart delivery was prompt and efficient. No damages. This cabinet is, however, not up to usual Rubbermaid standards of quality. .I expected much better from this company. Easy to assemble and the shelves are sturdy. Door and side panel fitment is poor however, and the flimsy doors easily bind. Rubbermaid is apparently trying to save weight, but the doors are just too thin for my liking. I am disappointed with this purchase, considering the price paid.
Does not line up as it should. Plastic is cut haphazardly and cheaply made. Not what I expected at all for a Rubbermaid product.
I have 3 large Rubbermaid storage sheds at home for outside storage, all bought years ago and of good quality. I bought many Rubbermaid large storage cabinets a few years ago for the condo owners to use in the condo garage, they are also good. I assembled all of them, about 12 in total. Then I bought these 3 FG708300 cabinets for my garage recently, none were available for inspection and I bought them on the WalMart internet. I tried to assemble them today and sorted thru 3 boxes in search of parts that would go together properly. Some panels had no hinge tube holes drilled as specified. Other panels had holes drilled in the wrong area. Where we stand tonight is all left doors with the same part letter stamp open with great difficulty. All holes the hinge tubes slide thru are drilled far undersized. Some holes are broken open. Reaming out debris in the door holes helped the right doors but all holes are poorly drilled and irregular in location. This is the worst product I have experienced in many years, no more Rubbermaid in my ilife for any product. Does WalMart want to come look at these units, I am located 4 miles from the store? This is a very bad WalMart experience, I have no intentions of going back for more products.
I recently purchased two units having purchased two others a few years ago. The quality of the latter units, particularly in the hinges was very disappointing. Flashing and circular punchings remained from the molding process. This slowed the assembly process and ultimately resulted in doors which would "catch" when opening. Although it is difficult to see from the included pictures, the side walls actually deform when opening the doors. I probably should have been alerted to something being "up" when one of the products came in a nondesript box with no Rubbermaid labeling or instructions (the assembly "instructions" were actually printed on the other shipping container).
