Gets great distance, can hear every little move our 4 girls make in their room. NEVEr get static, do get a slight buzzing sound sometimes if it's near another electronic, but that's rare as well. Temperature is fairly accurate, may be off degree or two, but we love this monitor!
I love this item and would recommend it to anyone. I had got a little cheaper one at first and it did not work very good - i got interference with everything. I then got this one and get no interference. Also I love how on this one the base has a thermometer. The handheld has lights that increase with sound. There is a belt clip on the handheld, but if you are like me and can't keep the clip on your belt then you can thread your belt through the hole at the top. GREAT ITEM
I had a video monitor I used for the first nine months (HIGHLY recommend), but once baby got older, we didn't need to have the video feed all night lighting up the bedroom and just wanted something cheap for just audio. I loved that this one had the capability to be used on batteries alone so we could travel without cords to worry with. The ON/OFF buttons do push easily, so either travel with batteries out or be careful packing them. I have had it for 9 months and have used it heavily during that time. The A/C adapter input on the receiver messed up recently and I'm having to replace the unit. I will get the same monitor, if that tells you anything. We are constantly plugging and unplugging the receiver and it finally just gave out. I have used the unit entirely on batteries alone. The base does use up batteries quickly to me so I pack a spare 9V. The receiver works a long time on batteries. Temp reading is always too high by several degrees consistently. I do find that there is some interference occasionally, but nothing severe and it can usually be fixed by adjusting the monitor slightly. I have a fairly big house and I can use it without problems in any part of my home. Maybe a little static, but nothing bad. I can hear baby fine and that's what matters to me.
You basicly get what you pay for. So far its working great. I do like that I can see the temperature in my little girls room. Its a great product if you cant spend alot. We had another version of this we bought in 2006 and it lasted almost 2 years. The nightlight isnt very bright and doesnt stay on long so plan on using a different nightlight. For the most part its a good product.
We bought this because this was the only one walmart had. It replaced our Fisher Price Monitor that we loved for the first year and a half. Pros. No Interference & No stactic...very quiet Cons: Poor volume control, I cant hear my child unless she is crying and even still hard to hear her. The sound is very muffled! The vol is on full blast and cant hear child Also the lights dont flash unless she is crying...so cant rely on it. Doenst charge. Dont waist your money!!! We are returning it.
I really thought this monitor would be good. It had some nice features like the temperature reading and nightlight. But as soon as I hooked it up all it did was static. I never heard my baby one time. I took it back after 3 days. Walmart was great about taking it back, though.
I bought this thinking it was a good idea with the temp gauge and thelights so if i had it low i could still see if the baby was crying or not! I set it up and tryed it out with my 2 year old so i could see how well it worked! What a joke it didnt work the temp said it was 80 degrees the whole time and never changed then i took the parent recaiver outside and i have a small house and all i got was static even in the house with it turned all the way up t barely picked up any sound i just hated the product! There was nothing good about it!
I bought this as a second monitor in the house. Then decided to used it as the main one used. I only had it a couple of days, but I will be returning it. The bad thing about it was the volume. I had to turn it all the way up to hear anything. Even then it was not loud enough. I would suggest to send more than $20 to get a reliable monitor.
Our baby monitor system that we had for 2 yrs went out. I was looking for a low cost but good monitor since I'd only be using it for another year or so. I had read the mixed reviews on the product and thought I'd take a chance. I was able to find it "in-store" while I was shopping at Walmart. I had had no previous issues with Safety 1st products, so I decided to take a chance. I was sadly disappointed. We got it home and tried it out. Even with the volume turned up high, I had a hard time hearing my daughter. Only when she cried did I hear her well. I was disappointed because with our previous system it was so sensitive I could hear her every breath, but I was ok with that. I only used it at night and figured if I could hear her cry then it would solve my problem. Well, the system only lasted one night from what we could tell, because the next night we found out that it wasn't working. It sounded like it was if you put your ear against the receiver, but we went in and talked to the monitor and could hear nothing. I even put my cell phone against it, shut her door and walked into our room and called it. Nothing. We changed the channels and such. Nada! I ended taking back to the store. I don't know if there was just something wrong, but I don't think I would recommend it. I ended up getting Fisher Price - 49 MHz Sounds 'n Lights Monitor. We've had it a couple of nights and so far it's worked really good. I'll check back after it's been good for a couple of months and let you know how it's going.
This product worked for all of one night. It creates alot of static even with short distances.
