We've had our range installed and have been using it daily for just over a week. So I'll start my review by letting you know that it is still rather new to us. I narrowed down my choices to this range because it had all of the features I wanted in the price point. The top of my list, just after 5 burners and large oven capacity was self-cleaning. I was disappointed to learn that nearly ALL of the competitors that offer the "self-cleaning" features have moved away from the pyrolytic method of self-cleaning to a "steam" cleaning/low temperature method (translation: the residue doesn't burn off - you still have to scrub afterward based on reading dozens upon dozens of reviews by unhappy owners of those ranges). Less important was having convection - but this range had it also! It does seem to shorten overall cooking time when it's used. I'm pleased that I can choose to use it or just bake/roast without the convection fan running. (With all of the places we need to be after dinner, anything that can shorten our prep-time is worth trying. Moving from electric to gas I can say everything is taking much less time to prepare than before on top of the range and in the oven.) We were converting from electric to propane, so not only is this range new to me but having a gas range is new to me as well. The most serious downside I've found, and I don't find it very serious at all, is that the vent at the top of the range does throw out a good deal of heat when the oven is running. It was mentioned as a negative in a lot of reviews I read but it was the only drawback I read about that I took seriously. Yes, you will want to keep your hand away from the vent especially when you exceed 375 degrees with this oven and consider what you have atop the stove during operating the oven. But seeing as its a range, you should be exercising this kind of precaution anyway. One think you might want to consider given the above is shopping just as carefully for whatever you have above your range, be it a microwave oven or a vent to make sure it will move air quickly enough to usher heat and steam up and out. (We also looked to Samsung for a microwave and found one with a 4 speed exhaust fan. My top consideration in a microwave was how it would function as a hood with exhaust and light. I will review that separately.) The burner configuration and size options are great. I did not buy this range for the griddle but I have to say I've found a use for it at just about every meal, whether it is to toast buns, fry eggs with no added fat, sear tuna steaks, or toast herbs or nuts, I'm finding that it's a convenience that I'll soon not want to live without. The non-stick works beautifully and it cleans easily. (Please educate yourself on how to care for non-stick surfaces for happy results! I've banned cooking sprays...) The controls are convenient and easy to figure out. The range looks great overall. Oh! And one of the best parts - the capacity! I can fit four of my sheet pans (10” x 15½” x 1”) in this oven or four standard muffin pans. I've never before had an oven that allowed them to fit side-by-side on one rack. This one is going to make holiday baking a breeze. (The storage compartment is rather small, but I'll give up some space there for this happy surprise.) Some reviewers complain of a smell that persists after the initial burn off of factory residue. I am not experiencing that problem at all. (It took only about 2 hours of use to not notice the initial odor any longer.) Lastly, there is a control lock option and an alarm will sound when the door is opened. We liked this feature because we have small children. While it won't prevent them from opening you'll get some warning that they're messing with the oven, which is better than most. All-in-all I'm very happy with this purchase and though I haven't used the pyrolytic self-cleaning feature yet, I don't anticipate any problems. (I hope I can update this review once I've used all of the features including bread proofing and self-cleaning.)
i don't write reviews. this is a nice oven for the price. but it has one irritating flaw that is unacceptable. the ignitor has to be regularly replaced. every six months or so. they are not cheap. i do the repair myself but if you had a technician do it would be very expensive. the ignitor design is clearly faulty, it should not be failing this often.
Our range works perfectly, but it looks like crap after a couple of years of wear n tear on the surface. Is there any way to restore the appearance? Can you recommend products and techniques to restore black stainless steel? Is there a service that can restore the appearance?
Bought 4 kitchen appliances 2 and 1/2 years ago and the PAINT is coming off on the exterior of the range. I wish I would have known it was paint job not real Black Stainless steel. AND Samsung DOES NOT have the paint to match.
I really had no idea what was happening. I started smelling plastic. I was using the convection setting. Wondering why I didn't hear the fan on. Then I heard popping noise. I quickly changed the setting to standard oven. Only having 3 minutes left for the biscuits. As I was changing the setting I opened the oven and seeing red under the stove. I turned the oven off. At this point being nervous bc propane and fire, yikes. I unplugged the electric. After searching for an answer, not getting anywhere with calling anyone. I went out and shut off the propane into the house. Problem as of yet not solved, but hopefully answers will be given on Monday.
Works well, but disappointed that black stainless is easily removed with water on a tissue.was hoping to buy other products to make a set but after this I think I will stick with regular stainless.
Black stainless finish flakes off gas knobs have all broken off. Even the middle burner which we have never used!
well, just going on 5 years now and my samsung stove is peeling. samsung french door refrigerator... if you look at it wrong... it gets scratches. a drawer has somehow cracked on its own. my microwave has divots from who knows what. keep in mind... only two adults in our home. great care cleaning with a micro cloth. i don't know... and then i just ordered a new dishwasher... so i can match everything else (that only lasted 6 years). i don't know why i haven't learned. my new samsung washer is new as well, hopefully, nothing will go wrong. kitchen appliances are black stainless.. so maybe that's why its going bad. these are kitchen appliances... not necessarily art pieces to display. they should be functioning and lasting for more than 5 years anyway.... :(
horribly disappointed. the knobs are extremely poor quality. one broke off within the first year & two others have since broken off. they are cheap plastic with a huge metal washer inside to "feel" heavy duty. the oven "vents" from the middle burner which gets extremely hot & burns you unexpectedly. this vent also warped the display. two of the burners when turned down to low will flicker off and spill gas into your kitchen. the "black stainless steel" finish is a plastic film that has been flaking off for months now. so not only does this range work poorly, it looks hideous too. samsung should truly be ashamed of such low quality from a name brand company. all appliances in this suite were poor quality. i will never buy samsung appliances again & i recommend the same for you.
Like all the other review unit would not stay ignited by and took an hour to heat up and I am on my second igniter in 4 year of ownership of this unit . My last Maytag unit last 8 year without a problem. I was expecting a quality product for what I paid for the unit but definitely didn't not in this case.
