[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is the second time I have purchased this exact fridge. It's amazing. I'm able to sync my family calendar on the screen and so everyone in the house knows what's going on. The fridge is beautiful and the ability to connect to my samsung qled tv gives me alerts when my fridge door is open. Not to mention my daughter can watch youtube or I can listen to spotify while I cook. Great fridge!
My family of 4 has gone through several brands of fridge, and the Samsung Family Hub is by far the best one. Top reasons are: 1) even and fast cooling performance, 2) ease of usability, 3) high-tech yet simple to learn, 4) made in Korea, 5) cool factor. 1) This fridge excels in cooling – I had to keep the doors open for several minutes while cleaning and loading it, and only about 5 minutes later, the temperature came down to normal range. This is important to keep food safely. 2) Overall design of the doors, shelves and bins are ergonomic so it's easy to operate. 3) There are many features included in Family Hub screen, and we found the features to be intuitive to learn and use. We love the great sound quality coming out of the AKG speaker, the family note and calendar feature, and the way I can see the camera of the Ring door bell. In addition there are many other useful features too many to list here. 4) Manufactured in Korea must be high quality. I know Korea commands premium for their production so I expect this fridge to last me a long time without any problems. 5) Friends and relatives make a big deal of it when they visit my house. I don't have to say anything, but they get really into it, and make it an interesting conversation piece. Technology has certainly come a long way, even in a mundane appliance like a refrigerator. I researched other top brands before purchase, and I am certainly confident that I made the right decision. I don't own any product that doesn't have some downside. On Family Hub, they are: 1) black stainless steel is very nice for finger print resistance and being a cool new trend. But I find it little too dark in my kitchen. That might be because I've always had white appliances previously, so I'm not used to it. 2) the height is likely one of the tallest in the market. I had to cut down the cabinet above it an eighth of an inch to fit. The end result was great, but it took an extra step. Overall, I'm very impressed with Family Hub for its quality, usability, and features. Highly recommended!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] At first I was like it's a nice refrigerator but what makes it stand out is the Family Hub. I love the fact that as I am cooking or washing dishes, I can ask Bixby to play Pandora and even skip a song with my voice. Technology is awesome. I can see who's at my front door with Ring and many many more endless applications to list. I'm very happy with this purchase. I love Samsung products.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this fridge a while ago due to the fact that I was renovating my kitchen and it fits in like a glove! The fridge teaches me to buy necessary items that my family and I can enjoy. Also, I love the touch screen feature that includes recipes, music and YouTube. It makes cooking enjoyable for all of us and we have a great time using it!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this fridge over a month ago and I have been loving it. It's very big and spacious compared to what we have and I love the fact that we are able to change the bottom compartments to cool or freezer. The screen is easy to Navigate and set up to your phone or other devices. Here are the cons- you can't get water out of the water spout if any of the other doors are open. The water comes out on an angle instead of straight down so if you are not paying attention you can spill water every where. Lastly I love the fact it has a crushed ice feature but you have to stand there for at least 30 seconds before the first bit of crushed ice comes out. Then by the sounds it makes you think you have a glass full of crushed ice and it's only a few pieces. Thankfully the water that comes out of the filter taste really good.
We have had this refrigerator for 4 years now. I love the layout, the flex drawer, and the space. I do not love the ice maker how slow it is and how enclosed and difficult to access. The screen was a complete waste of money. We do not have wifi, and most things on the screen are wifi run. I can not lock the display that I set on my screen, so the kids were constantly messing with it. My screen usually displayed colored scribbles from my 3 year old, and a date, time, and weather that were completely inaccurate. I found it not user friendly at all. It took me a year to figure out how to upload some of my own photos to it instead of the stock photos it comes with. I gave up and now just leave the screen off. (Samsung, please make it to where parents can lock the display screen.) My biggest frustration with this refrigerator is that it is extremely difficult to clean when needed. When something leaks on the bottom shelf, the juices run off the glass into the grooves of the frame holding the glass in place. The juice is then wicked to the compartment that houses the water filtration system. The unwanted liquids then pour down over this housing and pool under it, collecting in the hundreds of grooves, niches, and corners along the way. The shelf and glass are extremely difficult to remove, and the water filtration system impossible. This leaves the poor distraught housewife with a toothbrush and bowl of soapy water scrubbing fruitlessly at the water filtration housing, and wishing housewives could help design these things. (Samsung, PLEASE make cleaning these refrigerators more efficient!!)
this is a cool product with lots of great features, but beware the finger print resistant stainless steel is perfect except for the handle which is the most frequently touched part! i was so excited to get the fingerprint resistant finish but when it arrived the angled edge on the door (which serves as a handle) is touched every time you open it and subsequently filled with fingerprints. i don't know what the designers were thinking! why would you make the most frequently touched part the most susceptible to fingerprints? it constantly needs to be cleaned. this just seems to defy logic.
Looks good and works OK when new. Not as advertised. After 5 years the supposedly stainless steel doors started to develop rust. This indicates a very thin layer of stainless steel was applied to mild steel. Full full sheet of metals for the surfaces is not stainless steel but plated. I am a metallurgist so I can attest that rust does not occur in stainless steel.
I only had this product RF28N978OSR for 3 years. I was told it need to be replaced parts are over two thousand dollars. I can not find people to service it correctly in my area so I only received 1 estimate. Very disappointing. I have 8 children an now my fridge is out after only 3 years. It's not keeping cool. The freezer been out over 4 months now an also ice machine went out over a year ago. Any ideas
Do not buy this fridge! I purchased a similar one less than two years ago. The main board went out and is no longer sending power to the compressor or anything other than lights. I've been without a fridge for a month and Samsung is telling me they're sorry but it's not covered. The part to fix it is on back order so I'm currently stuck with no options.
