[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased this phone brand new in 2013 and it lasted until 2022 it was amazing how long my phone lasted and I ended up purchasing a Galaxy note 9
I had the Galaxy Note 2 and upgraded, it is wonderful, it does all it is suppose to do, there are still things I have to learn to do...But I have not had any problems with it at all...pictures are awesome, battery stays great and I use it a lot...for everything...I'm not so sure about the 1 pro...lol....inexpensive ?....I HAVE ONLY HAD SAMSUNG PRODUCTS...
This is not a phone, and I am very glad it is not... lol. I am a techie, PC nut, EEforC. I bought this as a phone, but what I got is a powerful hand computer that can do so many things I may be years figuring out every capability it has, or will have as apps become available. This device is AWESOME! I cannot tell you how I find daily things that it can make easier to do, but each day new uses come to light. This was to be a 5 year purchase for my small business, but I may never give it up... The firmware will be updated, os too, so there may be a long wait until it cannot handle something. The speed of various functions is superb... I put a UAG cover on it, along with a glass protector, it seems like it is bullet proof. No problems with storage, 32GB with a 64GB SD card, simply incredible. The voice recognition is a lifesaver when you are busy because you can still respond without your hands... Simply WOW, Samsung, out of the park folks... My son is getting the S5 soon. Thank You VERY much, I really appreciate your efforts to document EVERYTHING so easy to find what I want to know. Good job people, keep up the great work...
Simply elegant. Delightfully wonderful to hold my hand, you can feel the quality. Aesthetically pleasing to the eye, (nice touch with the stich design on the back). Brilliant display. The resolution and colors are crisp and bright. The camera takes excellent pictures. All my other Android devices are collecting dust. If ever there was a true love for an electronic device this would be it. The weight is perfectly balanced and easy to hold. The 2.3 ghz processor and 3gb of RAM make it a joy to operate as everything is extremely fast and fluid. The S Pen features are nice to have. No more frustrating pull-down menus on web pages that you are not able to operate with your finger, as this device sees it as a mouse pointer. Genius! Samsung out did themselves with this (PHABLET) and if they get better I can't wait to be one of the first to try the next one. Connectivity with my other Samsung products like the tv was seamlessly wonderful. What else can I say. A pure Joy
Excellent performance and speed, great screen resolution, amazing camera, Pictures and Video and beautiful design. I marked "Features" one star less than excellent since I like to see an easy transition tool accessing different apps and data while on the phone. By "Value" I'm looking at the cost which can always improve, however "Value" in sense of technology and performance is as marked, excellent. I found myself using my computer and Laptop much less now days. Most day to day tasks, emails, calendars, communications, are via my Galaxy Note 3. I do use computers if there is a complex project analysis, documentations review, etc. Even using my Galaxy to take notes or record conversations, meetings, etc. Battery: I need to charge my Galaxy at least once within two days if not sooner. Love mine, its a great product A Foot Note: Samsung produces some high quality products. However, for it to become an industry leader they need to incorporate a bit of imagination and creativity of their own instead of matching the existing quality products in the market. Such a great company, but what have you done that is different? Leap forward? Potential for greatness may be passing unnoticed.......
I replaced my old Galaxy S4 for the Note S3 and man what a huge difference. I can be more productive with the Note 3 than with any other phone I have ever owned, it's awesome. I have friends that own the iPhone5s and that phone is far inferior, can't wait for the Galaxy Note 4.
I love this phone!! Processor is fast!! No Lag!! Display is Perfect. If you think its too big....you can resize it for one hand operation. Seems like Samsung has thought of everything with this phone. Even at no contract price....IT IS WORTH IT!!!!!! Speaker could be better
I own a large YouTube channel and I've used this phone to film some of our content as well as upload and do a ton of work. It's great for when I don't have a laptop or DSLR camera around and it does even more things than some laptops do. It also works amazingly smooth with the watch. The Note 3 also has a large enough screen that I can show our videos to others and be proud of the quality. Seriously an amazing phone. Samsung knows how to do smartphones right. I highly recommend this phone.
The only thing I can see is that for some reason I have been losing very important text messages and all my contacts are not all being saved . My gmail was hacked and my fb. so not sure what happened.
The Phone has a Great Feature Set, however, there are a number of quirks and even some showstoppers. Firstly, the SMS/MMS Client will turn any SMS that has Emoji into MMS. Dangerous from a financial Standpoint (person you're texting may not have Unlimited MMS Package even if you do), but also makes it borderline unusable in areas of low reception. It causes the messages to take really long to send, and/or fail often where SMS would go through quickly with a high success rate. Secondly, the NFC Chipset in this device is not supported by Google's HCE framework, so you're stuck with a "Flagship" Device that cannot Tap & Pay. Thirdly, I have never seen a phone with as many preloaded apps as the Note 3. I have over 30 apps (last count) disabled due to them being baked into the ROM. The phone is Lightweight. The display is bright enough (not as well as an LCD Screen). The S Pen works fine, but the apps are unrefined and 3rd party apps aren't really using the SDK enough to make it a huge selling point, IMHO. Signal Quality is Below Average for a phone in this price range. Lots of issues with Connecting to LTE and Switching between 3G and LTE (the phone will not go back to LTE without a Power Cycle). This phone drops calls where other devices have no issues maintaining a signal/maintaining a voice call. The Back Camera has decent daylight images. It's as good as useless in low light, and the "Smart Stabilization" algorithms are pretty bad. Processing times are awful. It has decent Filters Integrated directly into the camera app - Live Filters. HDR Works well, albeit with some significant processing time. The FFC defaults to "Beauty Mode" and there's no way to change the default to "Auto." It's a real usability issue. The camera is great for video, however I wish they'd just record the Slow Motion at 1x Speed at 120 FPS and then allow us to Adjust what speed we want it to play back at after recording. The Camera is filled with modes, but many are impractical. At the end of the day, the software performs poorly where it matters most, is cluttered, and much of its functionality is either badly implemented (like the Slow Motion) or not very useful at all. Sadly, I cannot recommend this phone.
