I work in the steel industries and needed a beat up phone that I wouldn't worry about if I broke it but it would have the smartphone applications I use for work. I have had this phone for more than 4 years. it has been dropped 30 or more feet multiple times and the screen just had minor cracks but was still useable. I am very pleased with this phone. I spent hundreds of dollars on other phones and cases that stated they would work. but I got this phone and a phone case and they finally gave out and broke the screen while I was working on a crane.

I had my Galaxy S Blaze for over 4 years and had zero issues. The blaze was my first smartphone and I found it to be intuitive and very user friendly. As with all Samsung products, the Blaze is a quality phone with great reception, a fabulous camera and a crisp clear display. If it'd been able to continue system updates so that newer apps were compatible, I'd most likely still be using it. Sorry to retire my old friend!

Undervalued phone many will overlook

I have had this phone several months now, and is a rock solid, dependable handset that unfortunately will be overlooked by many. It has the same performance as the Galaxy S2, only in a better looking case that feels better in the hand than the S2. The camera works just fine, despite reviews complaining about it "only" being a 5mp shooter. Unless you are careless or hurried, photos come out just fine. Phone quality is exceptional. Both speakers are clear and loud, and reception is very good. Battery life is above average, and being able to change both the SIM and micro SD card without removing the battery is a novel feature. The overall impression of the phone is that of high quality that will last for years. I believe this is the best "sleeper" phone Samsung has ever produced.

The phone I now have is a replacement for the one we had for several years. That one developed problems where the email didn't arrive timely. The replacement is working well, and any problems I have are due to the carrier, not the phone.

The Blaze 4G is a CPU and RAM update to the Samsung-made Nexus S (Google's 2nd Nexus phone) from 2010. I'm surprised no one has mentioned this before in any review I've seen, although its Galaxy S moniker belies its heritage. The screen is the same size and 800 x 480 resolution, the rear-facing camera is the same 5 MP, the exterior dimensions are the same, the general design is the same, and it comes with the same 2.3 Gingerbread-Android. The CPU has been well updated to a 1.5 GHz dual-core and RAM is now 1 MB; oh yeah, and the front camera is fancier at 1.3 MP. Also improved from the Nexus S is a microSD slot, which I assume they expect you to upgrade on your own (and I did), because the 4GB included is not competitive. The OS can be upgraded via wire to 4.0.4 ICS; however, the Nexus S was allowed 4.1.2 JB, which Samsung has not yet granted to the Blaze 4G (hint, hint). The size (smaller compared to recent Samsung and HTC designs) appealed to me, because I was replacing a lost iPhone, and I had grown accustomed to the one-thumb accessibility of the screen. I don't think this is a coincidence since the Nexus S was designed as a direct competitor. The manageable size fits in my shirt or coat chest pocket comfortably. Speaking of how it feels, the back has a pleasant grippy texture that doesn't require a cover to protect it or keep it from slipping out of your hands. Call quality has given me no reason to complain. Data speeds are good, but I haven't benchmarked. The rear camera is decent enough; I use it, it's fine, but outclassed by its current contemporaries. Battery life lasts the whole day, but not two days. As for cons, T-mobile puts so much bloatware on it, it's a true negative. I ended up disabling all of it, and wish I could simply delete them, but they're baked in. Practically a reason to root. Overall: Responsive and capable, highly portable, and affordable former star with some beneficial upgrades. A solid, satisfactory smartphone.
