I've been searching for a slim, minimalist soundbar with great sound as a replacement for a somewhat bulky (well known branded) bar that was several years old. I was also looking for a reasonable priced system. This is it. It is also a great looking soundbar. Set up was easy and took less than 20 minutes. Very clean and streamlined! No problem pairing via bluetooth to my non-Samsung television but I decided to use the soundbar via the ARC HDMI. In addition to its sleek profile, the sound quality is crisp and clean, and a huge improvement over my older system. The new soundbar has dramatically improved my home theater experience for watching movies or listening to music. The remote is well made and simple to use but the system can be controlled through Samsung's app Smart Things. This works very well for me. The subwoofer is kind of big but I knew that before I purchased. One minor negative is not related to the system's capabilities but to the documentation that came with the system. It basically just instructions for set-up and mounting the soundbar. It's disappointingly very sparse. There was no spec sheet, feature explanations, or any mention of the app. I went to Samsung.com for more information but still could not find a complete manual for the system. I think this is an area where Samsung can improve. Overall, the S700D is a solid system, sounds great, looks terrific, and it's easy to use. I am super pleased and I wound buy again.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Don't let the size of the ultra-slim Samsung HW-S700D soundbar fool you, this thing packs a punch! Volume level 20 (it goes from level 0-100) is plenty loud for my apartment's living room. The audio was crisp coming from both my tv (connected via HDMI) and my phone (connected via bluetooth), and did not sound like a cheap soundbar at all. The subwoofer provides a good amount of bass, and its volume can be controlled with the included remote. Because I use a set-top box, I configured that device's remote to control the audio from my HW-S700D. I still need to use the included remote if I wanted to adjust the bass volume. Setup was easy. I just connected the soundbar to my tv using the included HDMI cable (the end that goes into the soundbar is mini-HDMI), connected the power cable to the soundbar and subwoofer, and it was all good to go. The HW-S700D does include mounting brackets for mounting on walls, but I did not use them because I have my tv and soundbar on a stand. My issue with the HW-S700D is minor. First, it lacked an optical audio port. Because my tv only has 3 HDMI ports, I had to use one of them for the soundbar, forcing me to disconnect one of the devices already connected to the tv. While an inconvenience, it was minor in the long run. I plan to upgrade my tv soon to one that has 4 HDMI ports, making this less of an issue. All in all, the Samsung HW-S700D is a solid soundbar that doesn't take up a lot of space and provides rich audio. A good choice that doesn't break the bank!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] One of the main reasons I chose the Samsung HW-S700D was because of how compact it was and I thought I would lose some of the effects you get with a bigger sound system, but I've been blown away with how this works. The Adaptive sound is probably one of my favorite settings as it analyzes your room space and produces amazing sound quality. Movies sound more crisp and the base is perfect without being overpowering. The gaming experience is like no other, you can really hear every detail and it really gives that emersive feeling. The only downside I've found is that since I don't have a Samsung TV, I'm not able to use the Q-Symphony, so I'm not sure how that works or sounds but it sounds like it would be a great feature and hopefully it can work with other TV models in the future. Otherwise, this is a great, compact sound system that really packs a punch!

I love that it has a slender remote and changing the settings is very easy to do and has a voice feedback telling you what mode the soundbar/sub are in. The subwoofer is amazing, and I can feel it in my pillow in the bedroom from the living room when the bass is turned up! The absolute best part, was that I literally just attached the cords to their counterparts, and plugged them in. It worked immediately without even changing any settings on the TV or anything! Literally plug and play. That's the quality of Samsung.

When adjusting volume, the TV screen only shows plus and minus signs and then I have to wait to hear the level. Even though it is thin-lined, it is still slightly too tall for certain tv models. We have to lift the remotes up to have the TV read. Pros: the wireless subwoofer is great! It is compatible with non-Samsung TV model. It provides clear, crisp sound and the sub got good boom! All and all going from tv speaker to this sound bar, it is 110% better.
