So far I have been very pleased with this television. My friend installed it with minimal effort and got all my components hooked up.
This is a great tv for an excellent price. Picture is awesome and my family is very pleased with this tv for the price we paid. We had not heard of this brand of tv before and it did not disappoint us.
Very pleased. At first, we were skiddish about the previously-unknown brand, but are pleasantly surprised with our Sceptre television. What a terrific Cyber Monday gift to ourselves!
I bought this tv for the kids for video games and television watching. They are extremely happy and so am I on the price for the size.
But a few weird things. Hard to find IR codes to use with a universal/TiVo remote. And there is a clock feature (not that I ever saw the time displayed anywhere but the menu) but you cannot set the clock. It auto-sets from the time on the cable input. of course if you don't hook up a cable, because you use TiVo or satellite, etc...no clock setting. But other than that little quirk, works fine, good picture.
The backlight is very uneven. I have "flashlights" on all 4 corners of the display, and clouding throughout the background. You don't see it when watching color, but on any dark movie the unevenness is VERY apparent, also quite noticeable if you are watching a movie that is letterboxed or watching 4:3 content. My unit also had a bad pixel out of the box. Its bright blue and really distracting during dark films.
I'd have to increase the sound at least 50% of the volume for normal watching and for the serious movie above 90% of the volume, wow! The buttons are so cheap. I have Viore, it's little bit more money but overal very good.
Not only was one of the speakers out, but the return was a hassel. The television wasn't in the system and I waited 45 mins at the desk, not to mention the time I spent in line. The component cables were limited allowing for less hookups and pains of not being able to view what i wanted with out having to disconnect one at a time.
Very nice looking until you turn it on. VERY BLURY!!!! Color is difficult to adjust and it will not work with the Time Warner codes for the DVR box remotes. Will definatly be returning this TV!
