I have been in search of a Gluten Free, wheat free bread that had a good taste toasted and not, I finally found one I like! I'm not disappointed. Taste great and no after Taste.
Great Garlic Toast, Great Toasted Cheese, Great Toast and Jam, Great for Toasted bacon sandwich, and if you figure price per slice to be able to have bread with your meal it is cheap!! And you can eat normal again. My wife does not have to eat gluten free, but she loves this bread also!!
Since I am on a Gluten Free diet, I have tried many brands of gluten free foods to substitute for the usual breads, crackers, pasta, etc. And while some are not satisfactory in taste or texture, this bread is very good and a stable for my kitchen. It can be frozen and lasts for months. The only thing I've found different about this bread, as opposed to wheat bread, is that it doesn't absorb liquids as quickly -- for example when making French Toast. All Schar products that I have tried have been very satisfactory, and it is a brand name I look for when shopping.
I ordered 6 loaves of this bread for my daughter who is on a gluten free diet. Can't find this bread in her area. She likes this brand the best. Great service from Walmart.
This is the best gluten free bread on the market and walmart sells it cheeper than anyone else.
I found it is good toasted. But the best thing I found is I can use it making gluten free Chicken and dressing. we have a recipe that has been used for 5 generations and I found I could this bread along with a pan of gluten free cornmeal to make the dressing.Every one liked it and my daughter in law said it was the best dressing I had made in the 18 years she has been in the family. My Mother and my son who are both gluten and wheat intolerate enjoyed the chicken and dressing for the first time in years.
I am on a gluten/lactose free diet for health reasons. I have avoided buying gluten free bread since it's so expensive. But my toast cravings got the better of me so I bought a loaf of this. The bread was fresh and soft w/ a yeasty sourdough scent when I opened the package. Delicious as toast, have not had it otherwise yet. Only complaints I have are a) the price and b) the size of the loaf - it's tiny. This will be a 'sometimes' item in my diet for those reasons, but otherwise a nice gluten free bread.
the only way I'd recommend this is if I knew someone with a severe allergy to gluten. Otherwise, it's really not very good. Now I have a lot of it to eat--very disappointing.
I really like that the bread arrives vacuum packed. It should be stored at room temperature while unopened, not frozen, or that will dry it up. It can be stored that way through the expiration date; about two months. Once opened, refrigerate the bread in an airtight bag or container and use within 2 - 3 days. The taste is kind of like buttermilk, and when stored as instructed the bread is soft and fresh.
As I said I was mistakenly diagnosed with celiac disease about a year ago.It was an adventure trying to find a good bread. This brand was awful. Tough tasteless dry I could barely get the pieces unstuck.I kept it in the freezer I did not have this problem with the gluten free bread I actually ate. I know that that being wasteful is very bad but I did everything with this bread except start over and bake it myself.I tried to give it to my adult children --no way - my grandson -unheard of-my husband don't even bother. I crumbled it up (which was EASY since its dry) and gave it to the birds and squirrels. They wouldn't touch it! We have woods behind our home and finally a wild bunny took some. Maybe for insulation? Thanks a lot!
