This is working really well. I have a 12v battery and a sollar charger at the end of my driveway. This device sends me voltages so I can tell if the solar charger is keeping up. I do think this device should send a notification when the battery is getting to a low voltage. I imagine if this were installed inside a car you would have to be careful with its placement. The cars metal exterior could easily block the wifi signal.
The percentage meter seems to be off even though the battery is fully charged. It reads 69% and 13.3 volts. I do like the access to the information from out of town.
Could be a little better if it had Bluetooth, notification capability, and better wifi range. It was installed under the hood of my car that I park in front of my attached garage. With a router being in the room behind the garage, the signal strength was low. I noticed when my car hood was open the signal strength was stronger. Concerns: • Low signal strength if using in a car parked outside. • Unclear instructions. If you need to connect it to a router, you need to connect directly to it through wifi as if the monitor itself was a router. At that point you need to open a webpage and try to access the site it suggests which didn't work for me if I did it myself. I had to click on the link in the app to open the browser site or use this ip address: 172.18.0.1 in the browser. • The app doesn't show the time it last updated the battery percentage. The Schulink app wouldn't work correctly on my work iphone, kept getting errors (asked if I was on a corporate network and to try to connect directly), I tried changing settings but still had issues. I could see the updated battery status but couldn't click on it to see more information. It worked on my personal android phone fine but the app would keep logging me out every few times I used it so I had to keep typing in my credentials to log back in, which was a hassle. I also noticed the battery percentage wouldn't update if the app was already open. I had to manually shut off the app, and then reopen it to see updated battery status. I think it's an issue with the app itself. One of the biggest problems with this device is that to save your car's battery it turns on and sends the updated battery percentage at various intervals when it decides. I find this a problem. If at 9pm I want to look to see what the current battery percentage is I will only see the last update (no way to tell when that was). Didn't find a way to see current percentage unless I go open the hood of my car and click the power button to force it to update the status. I bought this device because one morning going to work I noticed the battery was dead because I left the dome light on in the car. So I thought this device would alert me if the battery percentage drops below a certain threshold, but it does not, which I think defeats the purpose of this device. Here is what the manual says: "To conserve battery power, the monitor goes into deep sleep mode and may require up to 12 hours before it sends battery data to the Cloud (this will show in the App). When the wireless connection is again available, pressing the Status button will put the monitor back on its original reporting schedule." I ended up returning it because it did not do what I was expecting such a device to do. This is basically a plastic box that sits under your hood and sends updates on the battery percentage at times that it decides. So in theory you could open the app and see it say 60% (from a previous update) but in reality your battery might already be depleted/drained. Good product in theory, but just not practical enough.
Requires Schulink+ app and home wifi which does not work with Android phone; app would not setup to allow access to wifi router password for password entry; has an Apple IOS type interface; multiple calls to tech support not returned; finally spoke to one tech who reset device but same problem. Many similar reviews on Google Play for the app. Device does not have Bluetooth capability; returned to store; bought a better product that works via Bluetooth with my phone and has more functionality. Wasted 2+ hours trying to configure.
No notification, what good is it ?
Purchased a number of these for my fleet. A number of the devices would not even activate and none of them worked with the SchuLink app. Even though problems with the app are talked about everywhere, the companyâs tech dept attempted to make it seem like it was the first time hearing about it and said theyâd have to get back to us, but never happened. Ended up returning all of them.
keeps timing out before I can get it set up. I don't see a reset on it. I' m taking it back.
