I bought the Schwinn Link Bike yesterday for exercise and tested it out. It is a really nice bike - if it fits you. I am 6'-2" and it has a 17.5" frame. after riding it around and adjusting the seat all I could I reluctantly decided that I needed a 20" frame to be comfortable and returned the Link today. I suggest that Walmart provide frame size on their bikes, not just wheel size. And they should state what bike frame size is recommended for your frame size. I found that information with a web search after I tried out the bike.
This is a great bike for several reasons... I have never bought a bike I had to put together before so I don't know if this is the norm or not but assembly for me was easy because the bike came 85% assembled right out of the box. the only thing I had to mess with was the front brake. when I put the wheel on, the brake touched the tire so I had to adjust it a little which isn't hard if you read the instructions. I like the fact that is a taller bike with a thick frame. I am 6'0" and weigh a little more than 200 lbs. and it's perfect for me. Most of all I love how the handle bars are adjustable. too many bikes I looked at had fixed height handle bars and by the time I raised the seat high enough to make my legs comfortable, I had to bend all the way over to reach the handle bars. with this bike, if the bars are too low, all I have to do is just loosen the pivot point and raise the angle as shown in the picture. The only problem I have is with the gear system but it's not that big a deal. the gears run a little easy. What I mean by that is for me to have a leisurely ride without having to pedal too hard or too fast to go anywhere, I have to set it on the 17th out 21 gears. If I had it set on the first gear I would probably fall down because it would take me 20 pedals to go 1 yard. I'm sure there is a way to fix it, I just have to read up on it. Also the gears slip every once in a while but not often. All in all great bike and worth every penny of what I paid for it.
I tried all the bikes at Walmart and let me tell you this was the nicest riding bike as soon as I rode it I said I got to buy this. The riding style is up right so your not leaned over. The ride is smooth and a lot of fun. I have to admit the color choice did nothing for me ,but the feal WOW! The front wheel comes off with no tools very easy incase you need to put it in a small car. The bike is very light and sturdy even the kick stand feals nice. I think the problems people are having is do to whoever put the bikes together. I had some little issues that I fixed the breaks were not adjusted right. I would say just bring it to a bike shop to look it over and adjust any little things. In my opinion this is the best bang for the buck.
I have had the bike for a little over a month now and I have been very pleased with the performance. I made adjustments to the angle of the handle bars (nice feature) so that I would not have to lean over as far and raised the seat a little. The seat is very comfortable and has several adjustments. I have made adjustments to the gears as the bike is wearing in. Adjusts are easy to make once adjusted, the gears have worked great. This bike is a really good value. The only thing I would change about the bike is that it does not come from the factory with a water bottle holder.
I needed a cross trainer(from running) that I could use on both road and dirt. It must take curbs well, be durable and no flat tires when I hit potholes(like road bikes).I passed on the dirt bikes because I ride 90% on city streets. The alloy brakes, durability, adjustment of riding position and smoothness of ride are all 5 stars. The gears began slipping after 10 rides and need to be adjusted, so the derailleur could be better. That is my only complaint. FINAL EVALUATION: 4 1/2 STARS IT'S A KEEPER
My two biggest gripes are the handlebar won't tighten, and the gears make a lot of noise while shifting. I mostly ride on the weekends, 7-8 mi., and so far the handlebar has been an issue. The gears are working better with the more mileage I put on the bike. For something I bought for health reasons and paid under 200.00 for, it is well worth the money. If you are a serious rider, spend over 500.00 and get a better bike.
I have had this bike about a week now, so far I am very happy with it, it rides very good and the quality seems very good, when I bought it the display model had some scratches and the tires were flat so I asked for a boxed model, the assembly was easy and the gears were adjusted right on out of the box, the only problem I had was the front rim was bent badly, there was no damage on the box so I think what happened was they zip tied the rim so tight to the frame at the factory that it bent, I was going to return it but I thought I would try to true the rim myself, something I have never tried before, after watching a you tube video explaining it I gave it a shot, it worked great, much easier to do than I thought, so I am very happy with the Schwinn Link.
I think this bike is a decent product for the money and for a casual rider. The only problem I has was that I had to adjust the shifting mechanism which was not really an issue at all, the instructions are in the book. The product seems to be just fine, I have a few hundred miles on mine right now and it seems to be just as good as the day I bought it.
I assambled the bike and went out to ride it, the bike itself is so beautiful but the gears made so many noises and i could only swith to one gear. I would not recommend this bike because of the gears!!! Unless you want to spend more money to tune it up at a bike store Don't Buy This Bike!!! I mailed it back to walmart with their free return shipping label...
My sister got me this bike for my birthday so I could use it riding down to the beach (I live 4 miles from) and to work (I live 6 miles from). Only road it on the streets and within 4 rides (I had the bike less than 2 weeks) I had several mechanical issused (handle bars wouldn't tighten, MAJOR problems with the derailler, and on my last ride the THE CHAIN BROKE which cause me to have to WALK 9 MILES HOME! If you're going to use this bike more than once I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND GETTING THIS BIKE!!!!!! I WAS REALLY DISAPOINTED AND AM RETURNING IT TO WALLMART!!!!
