Ordered it online and had delivered to the store. Not a big deal to assemble. Just put the front wheel on, the handlebars, pedals, and the front fender. Maybe 30 minutes of work, and a little time to get the fender perfectly aligned and a little adjustment to the brakes. Nothing major, and easy even for someone not all that mechanically inclined. The bike itself is really nice. The 3-speed has plenty of range for moderate hills. It's really a nice commuter bike set-up. I think this will give many mles and years of enjoyment.
My husband and I live in South Florida which, for the most part, is very flat. However, when we ride to the beaches we have to go over rather steep bridges. He wanted a comfort cruiser but with only 3 speeds which we could only find at WalMart and we're extremely pleased with our purchase. The only issue we have with the product is the slim seat which is an easy fix with a new, larger comfort seat.
if you want a bike thats good on you money this is the bike for you i have a specialized mountain bike also but to keet it on the rd cost alot of money if you have a family and not alot of money to buy stuff for your self then the schwinn is a good all around bicycle for you
i shopped for a bike for 2 weeks, and decided on schwinn excursion...it has 3-speeds, fenders and fairly comfortable seat...easy to put together with an adjustable wrench and allen wrench...if you pay attention as to where the few loose parts go, you won`t have any trouble...i have COPD and very limited breathing and the schwinn has helped me to expand my breathing abilities...the schwinn at $224 is a much better investment than a mountain bike for $70 !!! i rate this bike at 5 stars...
It is a nice looking bike with great price and all the fatures I want is in it, i.e. wheel / chain cover, rear rack, a 3-speed internal shift gear, etc. The two front brakes work smoothly, no sudden stop feeling. I wish the front handle bar can be adjusted higher but it does not seem to be that easy. Overall, it is very impressive.
I read alot of these reviews online trying to decide what bike I was going to buy. I really liked the way this bike looked. It looked comfortable, and utilitarian at the same time. Kind of like a pack-mule. I've always rode mountain bikes, and always had to have the best. But this time I was looking to get the most bike for the buck. For this price you can't go wrong. I shopped around at the department stores, bike shops, and a couple of Wal-Mart's competitors. So I went ahead and got this bike. I am not disappointed at all. This bike is super comfortable, light-weight, and it's a good quality bike with good components (not the absolute best, but better than the no name bikes you can get for this price). To me this bike is a modern version of a retro bike (my parents rode bike like this when I was a kid). So to summarize my review: I love this bike, it looks cool, rides great, light-weight, excellent quality for the $$$=value!
easy to put together. getting the brakes right is the most time consuming thing on this bike. the rest was pie. once together you've got a nice solid bicycle.
This bike is a quality product. All the components are iether top or middle of the line. It is such a light frame that you can get up a good speed which unfortunatly highlights the defiecncy of the internal derailuer. Not enough high gears! It's great to have a wrack to stow my bag with my work clothes. I ride 8 miles back and forth to work dailey and find the bike extremely comfortable. So if you want to get here to there comfortably and are not concerned with speed this bike is for you.
Husband assembled the bike with the last step being the internal gear cable. The gear components seemed fine but the shifting cable nut going to the gear linkage was stripped out preventing it from shifting gears. Returned to the store and will not reorder.
I just got this bike for my husband and we had to return it. It had problems with the shifting and really only had two gears when all was said and done. It kept skipping the second gear. He also had a problem with the brakes. They were tricky to set and he was never able to set them so they were perfect.
