What we love - Product was very easy to assemble, parts were pre-sorted, one woman did set up alone in about 40 minutes. Bike operation is quiet and smooth. Bike is sleek and sturdy in design and sits in the corner of my living room. Using bike daily for a total of an hour each day. Before ordering I could not find the maximum weight limit - found that on paperwork in box - it's 275lbs. Two points that could be improved is the contrast of the display. The display is VERY difficult to read while riding the bike AND the fan (which I didn't realize was a feature) generates so little airflow that it's not worth using up the battery life. I did site to store pick up and the box arrived in excellent condition. Overall I LOVE the bike and would recommend.
I purchased the Schwinn A20 as I wanted a low impact bike to touch up my stamina. The bike was easy to assemble and has worked well. I chose this bike over others in the price range due to the type of seat adjustment as it is just that, a seat adjustment not a frame adjustment. It, to this point, has proved to be very stable and quiet.
Set up and assembly was quite easy and the bike has so many options. I'm 60 and haven't biked since I was a pre-teen. I was concerned biking would give me knee problems. I love my bike! I'm riding up to an hour a day and 12 - 20 miles. I lost 3 lbs my first week and look forward to putting in a funny movie and exercising twice a day! I highly recommend this bike. Pick up in the store was a snap. The nice associates loaded it right in my car. You do, however, need an SUV or truck for pick up. It wouldn't fit in a small compact car.
Everyone comes over to use it...only thing is I wish the resistance was higher than 8. My son who is 22 gets tired after 15 minutes so I know its working
I am impressed. The Schwinn A20 Recumbent exercise bike took about an hour to put together. It did take two people on certain parts so if possible, have help around. It is a nice looking bike. From other reviews I was expecting not to see the computer board very well without a light but I was pleasantly surprised to find I can read the one on mine without a problem. Also, the fan seems to work great and I do feel it and appreciate the moving air when I'm riding. I've never used a recumbent bike before this one but I'm finding the Schwinn easy to ride, easy to program and a helpful exercise tool. The only issue I have with it is the size, which I managed to underestimate even with the exact measurements given in the description. It is almost as long as my couch! Other than that, I am a big fan.
Part of the point of a recumbent bike is COMFORT. Schwinn really missed the mark on the seat and seat back on this model. Basically a flat board covered with a little padding and vinyl. NO ergonomics and extremely tiring hard on the buttocks and back. The rest of the bike is fine. I knew in advance that some people had issues with being able to read the display, and it isn't easy, but its possible.. also the angle of the display/program unit makes reading almost impossible (but I watch TV while I ride so this doesn't matter to me) Also the fan is a joke.. they could have redesigned a little, left that out, changed the angle and maybe improved the display and the book rack and nobody would have missed the little fan that wouldn't satisfy a fly. Having said all that, which is why I gave all 4s instead of 5s, the function of the bike is terrific, the programs are challenging and easy to modify if you need to. It is also VERY sturdy. It takes up more floor space than I thought it would, but it does what I expected it to do-give me a good stretch and workout! I'm not sure that I would trust the heart rate readout,.. It seems awfully low. If I had it to do over again, I'd have bought the next model up for $150 more and gotten more comfort.
good bike. the few flaws it has are the screen is hard to read, fan is useless, heart rate monitor is sometimes off, and the speed increases as you increase resitance. the resistance speed issue may just have to do with the fact they are trying to relate it with gearing?
The screen and the fan are terrible, and the bpm sensors don't work, but the bike does its job. The programs are good, the resistance is good. My favorite thing is that the bike is dead silent. It is so great! I can watch tv without having to mess with the volume. I am also having results with my body inches and weight. In one solid week, I've gone down 1 inch around my hips (with diet also). With that, the above mentioned problems are nothing to worry about. The price on the bike is awesome too. So worth it. When you buy, heed my warning...Order 4 D batteries or the power cord for this bike, otherwise you'll be making an extra trip to wal-mart. Enjoy!
This is a great machine with several exercise options. It works beautifully. Because of difficulty walking, it's the only exercise I can do besides breathing regularly. I NEED to exercise and this makes it do-able. And it really eases my lower back pain by strengthening those muscles.
If you are looking for a high end recumbent exercise bike then you should expect to pay a high end price. For the money you pay for this unit you get a fair amount of functionality. The display is horrible, virtually useless in a dimly lit room. The fan is a joke. Considering the overall usability of the display it would have been smarter to just leave it out and reduce the price accordingly. All that said, this bike works. In regards to the mechanicals - pedals, stability and sturdiness, flywheel action - I think you are getting your money's worth. The seat could use a bit more padding but it's not that bad. If you don't have a lot of money to spend but need something you can use on a daily basis to get in shape or stay in shape then this is perfect. If you want a $1000 exercise machine then you will have to pay $1000 for it. Keep your expectations in line with what you are spending and you will be satisfied with this unit.
