My experience was similar to other reviewers. I purchased a 4 pack and taped over 40 moving boxes. The next day they were all unattached to the boxes even though they were stored in my AC home. Now I have to repurchase another product and retape every box, top and bottom. Do not purchase this product. I have always had good luck with Scotch products so I am very disappointed.
I purchased a six roll package of Moving and Storage "Long Lasting" Packing Tape # 3650. I spent the day packing for a move and I am using all new moving boxes, no dust or dirt on the box. After stacking the days work of packing I have noticed all the tape just pulling away from the boxes. I applied pressure in application and rubbed it enough to produce a little heat on the tape but this tape is failing. All of the packing is in a controlled environment with no extreme conditions. Tomorrow I need to go out and find a decent tape and retype all my boxes.
I wish I read these reviews before buying a 6 roll pack of this tape. I have always know scotch to be a great brand of tape which is why I spent the extra money to get this tape rather than opting for store brand. Like many other reviewers this tape has not stuck to any of our boxes to keep them closed. I have had to re-tape our boxes wasting time and product. I wish scotch would change this tape to make it better.
I know that generic tape is terrible as it splits and shreds so I thought I was making a smart move by buying brand name tape for our move. Bad idea with this tape. For whatever reason it just isn't that sticky and we have multiple boxes that are coming undone mid move. Unfortunately I bought 8 rolls of this product that is headed straight for the trash. I guess I will use 3M brands next time and not worry about it.
I'd give 0 stars if I could on this product. I should've read these reviews before I wasted the money on a dispenser pre-loaded with one roll and then a 3-pack. This tape is absolutely terrible. I don't understand why the company continues to make this product. All 7 boxes that I packed last night will need to be retaped (with a different brand of tape) because none of the tape is sticking to the boxes, even with reinforcement. Very disappointing and a huge waste of money.
Tape does not stick to boxes. The tape came loose on every box it was used on. Was forced to re-tape every box a second time with another brand.
The tape breaks off into pieces before you can get it off the roll. I ended up using a razor blade to get off what I needed wasting half the roll in the process. At that point I really didn't care because I just wanted the experience to be over. As many others have stated already, not a great product. We as consumers are at fault for not doing our research before hand. We simply need to wake up, get smarter, and quit wasting our money on things that do not work.
As someone who has moved many times in life, I have used Scotch brand packing tape for decades. I decided to buy a 5-roll pack from Walmart.com %26 have been terribly disappointed. It is NOT the same quality at all; it is terribly thin, rips/tears easily %26 really doesn't stick well. IF Scotch changed their tape, then shame on them - it was a good product %26 you've ruined it. IF they make %26 offer a cheaper, thinner version for sale through major online retailers (Walmart, Amazon, etc.) then call it something else %26 present both the old great product %26 the new icky product side by side so shoppers can make their own choice.
Impossible to get the tape started. a simple ARROW on the tab would at least let the customer know which way to start trying to free up the end.. I scraped through at least 20 layers of tape in an effort to get this started, wasted enormous amounts of time and tape and never did get it started.
Scotch is a brand I've always trusted, but this tape is awful. The attached picture was taken maybe 20 minutes after sealing the box and the tape just lifted right off. There are dozens of other boxes that look the same. Very disappointed.
