This is one of those products that you never realized you needed until you have one. I have used this to break down cardboard boxes and my wife and daughter uses them on crafts. They are going to start scrap booking and know they will use it. I like that the blades are breakaway and safe to change. It seems like every day I am reaching for it for another purpose. 3M gave me a free sample of this product to review, and I am glad they did. I've always used a standard "box cutter" to opening bags of top soil or cutting cardboard. Was always a bit disappointed by the design because of the hassle necessary to change blades. This product allows you to easily open and close the blade for safety, but also allows you to simply snap off the dull portion of the blade when necessary. Used this all afternoon opening bags of top soil, peat moss and mulch. Worked like a charm. Haven't needed to change out the blade yet, but looks like it will easier than a traditional box cutter. I volunteer to evaluate products for 3M, and the company recently sent me a free sample of this utility knife to try out. One word describes my experience, WOW! This is the best utility knife I've ever used. It's lightweight but completely durable. It cut through cardboard, plastic, and even rope. The blades are breakaways, so if the blade becomes dull there is not dangerous sharpening or replacing to endure. You just remove the top blade and a sharp new one is underneath. It's very easy to use and so much better than my husband's bulky, heavy, old one with the dull blade. I felt much safer using this product and highly recommend it. This utility knife was little more expensive than the other brands available on Jet but this one is sturdy and it works well. What i really like about this product is the black rubber strips on both sides; these will give you good grip and it won't slip out of your hand easily! Overall, very satisfied with my purchase.

It has an end cap to snap the blades, so you will always have one ready! The blade stays in place, no moving or slipping because it is locked. I use it for opening boxes that come in the mail, and it works so well! I love the look! It is so different than my old one, it actually looks very nice. I love it!!
