I really like these external hard drives. I have Dish Network and I can have been able to save programs onto an external hard drive to then save space on the dvr. If I want to watch a saved program, I just plug the drive into the dvr and select the drive. Works great.
Works exactly the same way is my last Seagate that I had quit on me but I owned it for 10 years!
