Bought this for my daughter who broke her arm in two places. Her cast was over the elbow, and trying to take a shower or bath was almost impossible. This allowed her to keep her cast dry without worry. It is hard to get on with only one arm, but overall it did what it promised.
This worked out great. Easy to use. Walmart.com offers a very detailed video by the manufacturer which explains how to use this item properly. The only thing left to decide is which size is appropriate for your injury. Good Luck and Get Well Soon!
My son had a cast from his wrist to (above) his elbow and we were going to the Beach. This was perfect!!!! He was able to go out in the ocean! The water did not leak in!
This product works! The only downside is that it requires two people to put it on and take it off. It allows anyone with an arm cast or brace to shower without wetting parts that should be kept dry.
This cover was ordered in anticipation of being used after surgery. It is hard to tell how the cover is constructed from the picture. There is a stretchy rubber washer inside the plastic ring with about a 3 inch circle to stick the arm through. The sleeve of the cover is constructed of a durable heavy weight plastic, much like a heavy duty shower curtain liner. I have used the cover twice since my surgery almost 2 weeks ago. The first time was 2 days after surgery when the soft cast (ace bandage wrapped splint) was in place & again today. It works great with no leaks, but I've given it a 4 star rating for the following reasons. 1. Not easy to get on. It takes both my husband's hands & my free hand to get it over my long arm cast. With all hands on deck simply pull the circle toward the ring to enlarge the opening. Do not use with a soft cast. The washer is difficult & painful to get over the soft bandage. It felt like it was dislodging the bandages. Also, be careful with when pulling over a hard cast. The fiberglass cast taped will scrape your knuckles. 2. This would be perfect for broken bones, I think, but I would not recommend this cover for surgical patients. I have 2 arthroscopic incisions on the wrist & a 5-6 inch osteotomy incision on my forearm. Working the cover off & on does cause some pain in my wrist. After 5-10 minutes the long incision becomes extremely painful. I was very uncomfortable for almost an hour after removing the cover. Since the pain from bones is different I believe it would be more comfortable in that instance. As a side note, I find it easier (again, as a surgical patient) to carefully bathe in the tub & then wash my hair in the kitchen sink.
Wasn't sure what to expect, but it really worked great for me!!
I needed something to cover my daughters arm ... This worked but it was very hard to get off her arm at times ( and she is only 9) . It did develope 2 holes only after using a couple of days . I was able to repair them so we could use it . Overall it did a good job and kept her wrapped arm dry during the short time we needed it to
If you are looking for a cast cover that will ABSOLUTELY keep your cast dry, look no further. you can enjoy a nice, long shower without any worry that even a drop of water will get on your cast...not even vapor will get thru that seal. Now for the bad news. The seal is very tight. Not hard to get off and on but I would imagine that this seal would also be very effective as a tourniquet. Left on too long would probably be dangerous. Also, I have a small arm. All that being said, I would buy this item again cause it does exactly what I want it to do and the price is very reasonable.
I bought this while in a temporary, partial cast from my hand to elbow. I had to make slits in the inner rubber casing to be able to get it over my hand. Two weeks later when I got a full arm cast from my hand to my arm pit, it wouldn't go past the elbow at all. It was just way too small. If I hadn't cut it, it would be on its way back for a refund. This would be fine for a young child with a tiny arm, but not for adults with a thick cast. Total waste of money.
The seal was way too tight! Unless you have a very skinny arms, it will probably wont work. Yes it won't let water in but it will also choke your arm and cut off the blood flow.
