I needed some courtesy lights for my boat and these are nice and bright. I installed them on the sides along the gunwales and they work perfectly, at least in the garage. White will draw the bugs but I won't have them on very long and skeeters don't pay attention to lights anyway. They come with 2 stainless wood screws and the end have small caps that are removed to install the screws and then the caps cover them up. There is a rubber gasket at the base of the strip to act as cushioning. The strip has a groove in the back so you can run the wire down it to hide it, then let it come out the end. I had access to the back so I just drilled a small hole and pushed the wires through then ran them to the switch on the console.
12 volt. 18 LED's. No switch. Well-made rubber base is also a gasket that allows the wires to be hidden or come out of the end. The power wires enter the middle back of the fixture and are only long enough to extend about 4 inches past the end. Current draw is .11 amp so nine of these would only draw one amp. The molded clear plastic over the LED's is shaped to be a Fresnel refract-er and the round ends of each LED make most of the light shine straight out of the fixture. I installed this in the engine room overhead of a 52 foot boat:from across the engine room it looks like that corner is lit by a small skylight. This is very similar to the Shoreline Marine 8" LED but the individual LED's are slightly bigger in this one and the light from this one might be a little bit blue. . The plastic around the screw holes at the ends is substantial and would have to be abused to break: drill straight pilot holes and they will be fine. Unlike the Shoreline Marine unit, this one comes with little plastic blocks that snap in and cover the screw heads.
