This is a great Value for a great Price. There was some thought put into the design. This Kayak is both functional and affordable. My two children (9 and 12) and I decided to throw the box as delivered in the truck and head to the lake to try this thing out. The instructions were clear enough for us to pull it out of the box at the lake, get it inflated and assembled in about 20 minutes. The first time there is always a little bit of a learning curve. I am sure that this kayak can be fully set up and in the water in about 10 minutes. Everything fits in the back pack it comes in, and the back pack becomes the kayak seat. How cool is that? Light weight enough to carry to the waters edge fully assembled. The paddle was light weight as well and we all liked it better than some of the other paddles we have with our other roto molded plastic kayaks. It was dark when we got off the water and I could not read the instructions on how to get it back into the backpack until I got it home to the garage, so we just deflated it and rolled it up in the truck. Once I got home and read the packing instructions, it was actually quit easy to repack and fit it all right back into the back pack, including the paddles that break down into about 7 pieces. I wiped the sand off of it with a rag and its clean, packed and ready to go on the next trip. Tip: When packing the paddles I suggest using a small towel to wrap the poles and connectors in. (This also gives you a towel to wipe down with before packing) I then tuck them inside the pack between the folds of the kayak. I do put just the paddles in the side pockets and secure with the Velcro. The towel keeps the pieces secured together and tucked safely away. I preferred this over the instructions that have the poles stick out so much off the sides of the pack. Stability: The weight capacity of the kayak is 250lbs. I am a good size girl (5'7" over 200#s)and felt more stable if I kept my feet hanging in the water. My kids felt very stable on it and they were able to adjust the seat position easily to fit their size. Inflation: This came with a pretty good hand pump, and it pumped up A LOT quicker than I expected. However, It takes two people, one to hold the nozzle in the kayak and another to pump. The nozzle does not fit into the air hole very well (I am going to modify this) and you have to be quick to plug the hole once inflated. This kayak deflates pretty quickly and easily as well. The pack is reasonably light to carry if you have to hike a bit to the waters edge. Overall a pretty cool concept. Affordable and a good time out on the water with the kids.
About what I expected for the price. I bought it to play around the smaller lakes and as a tag along for the bigger kayaks. It's difficult with the supplied pump to get stiff enough for my 190# to prevent bending in the middle. I guess I haven't figured out how to make the valve to pump connection or it's just a difficult connection to make. It's great for my kids except the footrest is too far forward for them- it needs to be adjustable. The back pack/ seat is innovative and functional. Overall, it will get used and it was priced right for the product it is.
