no complains. It is a little bigger, which most calculators are these days. It has two modes. In WriteView mode the answer is displayed in fraction not in decimal, needs one key to be pressed to convert to decimal. I particulary purchased this calculator for AND, OR,... function since i will be using it for computer program. I hope it will help. Also check out low end casio calculators. One nice features of this calculator is it retains answer of the your last operation even when turned off.
The Sharp EL-W516B and EL-W535B are good for Boolean computations of Binary, Octal, Hex, etc. This comes in real handy for those of us who are pursuing Computer Networking certifications like the Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA). It saves time having to convert Decimal to Binary then AND'ing them together and converting it back to Decimal to get the Subnet address. It may be just as fast (even faster if you are adept) as resolving the equation on paper (which, I believe, you most certainly have to do when taking the certification test) but a calculator does not have trouble lining up 1s and 0s correctly or counting places. And if you are dealing with IPv6, well, I'm not even going to try it without one of these calculators or something similar.
This was the first time I had to purchase a Scientific Calculator for one of my children for school. I was expecting to pay 10 time what I payed for the calculator at Walmart.com. My child was very pleased by all of the functions that were available and how easy it was to use. I was excited by the savings I purchased the calculator for.
This is an outstanding scientific calculator, particularly for computer science. I actually like it better than comparable Texas Instrument models.
Sharp EL-W516B is an excellent calculator, easy to use, very affordable, best of all, it never needs battery. It is actually better than the graphic one which is more complicated to use. I am recommended this product to any one.
I am very happy with my purchase. I had other scientific calculators in the past; so I know a good one when I see it. A month ago, I bought a real expensive calculator, and just because it was a leading name brand, I thought it was going to work. However, when I got home, it started to freeze, and I couldn't see the decimal point. I went to pick up this Sharp Scientific yesterday, and I cant believe how real the operations look in it. I can see the numbers, and symbols very clear, and it even shows how you got the results.
Now that college has started and there has been an opportunity to compare this calculator to the others around in our class, I have been asked to buy some more of these for a couple of friends of mine. These EL-w516B calculators supply cannot keep up with the demand. Very good calculator!
This does a lot common functions. The dot matrix screen helps tons in seeing everything. The way answers are displayed is very nice. This calc touches on most every type of mathematics but is NOT a replacement for a high power graphing calculator for all angles of calculations which makes the device somewhat limited. For more in depth calculations the Ti-Nspire with Touchpad CAS. Make sure it has CAS Computer Algebra System. To me the Sharp unit is nice for general calculations or for a Elementary or Middle school students, but not passed that. Although it is not enough for in depth algebra 1 or 2 and certainly will NOT meet the needs of Statistics, Calculus, and Finite math for in depth equations.
This calculator has many useful functions. I had to go over the user manual a few time but once I got use to the different functions it was very helpful when I used it on my math final. It was worth it's money in gold because I passed my college math course!
