My husband bought this for work and loves it!!It is easy to use and easy to understand!!
The biggest problem with reading about anything is not understanding certain words and this electronic dictionary is amazing! Any word and derivation can be looked up and understood by using this wonderful gadget. It's compact and the price was lower than anywhere else. I love it and only wish it had pronunciation sound.
I got this for my DS who is using Institute for the Excellence in Writing. She loves it! I thought it was pricy but came recommended from other HS. Glad we made the investment.
Received my dictionary today, and I absolutely love it. I haven't been able to put it down. I am on my way to building my vocabulary. 100% satisified. Thanks Walmart!
I previously had a less expensive (~$50) electronic dictionary. At least three of ten words I would look up were in the dictionary. I've had the E550 for almost a month and use it daily. I've yet to try to find a word that wasn't contained in this dictionary. Excellent purchase!
This was a perfect purchase for my 13 year old daughter. Spelling is not her strong suit and this dictionary covers not only that but so much more. She's even taken the time to sew a cute little cover for it so it doesn't get scratched :) Love it!
Best one of these I have found, but I returned it after some deliberation because of two issues. I felt it was too expensive at 80.00, and the digital print was not crisp enough for long term use. It is the best one out there at the moment though. If it was 40.00 I would have kept it.
l bought it for my daughter in high school and she really loved it. its great and she is been using it for a month with no interferings from the device, PW-E550 nor the batteries.
Here's the deal with this Sharp PW-E550, it is an adequate dictionary for most words. My wife and I are often finding words that it doesn't contain, but over all, worth the money. However, after about 6 months to 1.5 years the screen develops vertical streaks where you can't read the text. If you look online, you will see that this is a very common problem. It seems that the cable between the screen and keyboard gets fatigued from opening and closing the unit, until it is unusable. E-dictionaries where keyboard and screen are on one plane, won't have this problem. But, the screen will be half the size. So, here's the tradeoff, this Sharp unit is nice with its hinged lid and larger screen. Cheaper units like some of the Franklins have a smaller screen but won't have this screen problem. I've been deciding whether it might work for us to buy a color Android table where we can just put a dictionary app on it instead of a single use electronic dictionary. Not sure which way to go. Enjoy!
Very unhappy with this purchase. The screen begins to malfunction early into use. It gets vertical lines that make it impossible to read the page before you. I agree with another reviewer, I would at this day and age, just put an APP. on my tablet or laptop. I also no longer have a problem just picking up one of my very heavy dictionaries and going old school and just looking up the words. I hope others have enjoyed this Sharp Electronic dictionary, but I never got my money's worth. Such is life! Nothing is perfect! Blessings!
