I read the other reviews before I made this purchase so I new what I was getting. This product was shipped to my local Walmart for FREE so I could see if there was any damage to the box before excepting it. My oven is not loud like another reviewer reported. Theirs was probably dropped or mishandled during shipping. The clock does not have a back light so you can't see it in the dark. The control buttons are close together like someone else mentioned so you have to look at the control pad to find the start button. I wanted a small reliable oven so I choose this one and I'm completely satisfied with my purchase. If you want more power or bells and whistles you should go with a larger model. The 800W is fine for my cooking needs. Sharp is one of the top leaders for reliability in microwaves so this product should last many years.
This product was purchased as a replacement for a 20-year-old GE microwave oven that was still working, but the spring inside the push-button door mechanism had broken. I worked around that for a while, but it became a nuisance. I did a lot of online research before I purchased this microwave. Most of my microwaving is reheating food and beverages and making popcorn. This is perfect for me. The price was a plus and the oven looks good.
My last microwave was also Sharp Carousel. It was white and lasted almost 10 years before the touch number pad started to not respond...one number going at a time. When I finally couldn't set the clock or timer, I knew it was way past time to get a new one. I wanted the same brand, since I'd had such good luck with my old one. I shopped all over and couldn't find just what I wanted, then tried Walmart's on-line. Found exactly what I was looking for, and for a very reasonalble price. Really liked the free shipping to the store feature. I have a very small kitchen, and both models fit perfectly on the small sectiton of counter space next to my sink. This time I got the black one...so sharp (no pun intended!) looking, and the touch pad was updated for easier functions. It does everything I use a microwave for. Since I've had the new one such a short time, I'm hoping the durability will be as good as the last one I had. Here's hoping I'll have this one for 10 years also!
I love this due to my last one lasted long , what one little micro can do for us.. My last one lasted so long and that is one reason I would order it due to the store didn't have it in stock. I give this high rating.
The only thing I didn't like about this Microwave was that the light does not come on when the door is opened; It comes on only when food is cooking. I liked the light coming on when the door is opened in the previous model-I could see what I was doing as I placed the item I was heating on the glass turntable. I just "re-homed" a 2000 Sharp Carousel Microwave that was purchased at Wal-Mart, on sale in Feb. 2000. It was a 1.5 cu ft...larger than this microwave. But I now needed a smaller unit because of lack of counter space. This smaller microwave has all of the features (and more) that it's larger relative had. I recommend this Microwave...the value for the money is excellent, the unit works well; it is easy to use; it is easy to clean in the event of a spill-and the dark finish seems to repell fingerprints. AN EXCELLENT VALUE!!
its a microwave. its working fine ad its nice looking i, i have a small kitchen . so its not to bulcky but not to small. its perfect. i am happy with this item.
This microwave actually works really well. Good power, nice little options to heat food differently...overall good product. Biggest flaw: NO BACKLIGHT ON DISPLAY We cant see the display unless we turn on the light in the kitchen! Other than that, its a good microwave.
Thought this was a similar replacement for an older model my elderly mom had that wore out. NOT. Unless you're just going to time-cook, the "shortcut" features are not simple, and the instructions for their operation are confusing for senior citizens. And, you have to put gripper material under back or it slides backwards each time you push the buttons. If I had seen this model in person first, I would not have purchased it for her. Other than that, I guess it's an OK microwave. Also, I don't know about the durability, as this is the first week of her using it.
Microwave is vibrating and not working properly. Have to return or exchange it. :-( sorry....
Unfortunately, the microwave that I purchased online for my mother as a gift was a lemon. I set it up for her on Mother's Day, but it didn't work. It would only work for 3 seconds and then turned itself off. I even called Sharp's customer service, but could not help me. I returned the item to the store. I bought another brand for approximately the same price, and so far, it's working fine. I have a Sharp microwave, which works fine, so I was disappointed. I'm sure this was just a fluke, but based on my experience, cannot recommend this model.
