One sheet allows me to run a small load of darks and lights together or prevent a new red shirt bleeding into the laundry load. It works works on fabrics for quilting, I make sure I always have some on hand. Shout is by far the superior product in my opinion.
For over 30 years we've lived in a house where we depend on well water rather than city water. I used to have to send all white clothing to the laundry because the iron in our water turned everything dingy. Then one day, it occurred to me to try a Color Catcher when I laundered new white underwear. Long story short: Yes, it removes the iron! I finally bought white jeans!
Years ago, I had a white shirt with red poinsettias. I dreaded washing it because of the bleeding. My friend told me about your sheets. NO BLEEDING!!! I use them every load. We have had one fail and I blame that on the jacket. Way too much color released. I should have more than one sheet.
I saw the ads for this product & was skeptical. Then I tried it & I am a believer! I have washed many different things on hot & on cold & the color catchers save the clothes from bleeding every time. The proof is in the sheets after the wash. I can wash our stinky athletic clothes that are red & white on hot with no problems. Also we volunteer at a homeless shelter where we do all the laundry on hot for hygiene purposes. This product has saved those clothes multiple times as we only have enough for one load a night usually & so combine the colors.
I was introduced to this product at The Color Run in Brooklyn. The check in kit had a sample of this product. I honestly was trying to figure out how I could go to a race where all of my articles of clothing, no matter what color, was going to get stained, would come out. since I was out of town, it took me 2 days before I even washed the clothes from the race. I mixed the load as instructed with some whites (that had some color on them), darks and in between. I placed the color catcher inside the load and OMG!! My clothes looked brand new. It was unbelievable, but then again..... to see it, you have to believe it. Definitely a "must buy" on my list.
These sheets are a life saver. I am a rag quilter. I cannot per wash fabrics many times as it will not be a good rag the second washing. So my materials and colors were limited until I discovered color catchers. Now I use them in all my color catching projects. I don't wash pens with them, but fabric colors don't bleed.
They are the only product I've ever bought or tried to keep clothes from bleeding on each other. And if you have a white shirt that got washed with something red and put one in and wash it again, it will take it out. Before and after.
I have used color catchers for years and sometimes they work, others they don't. I washed a new vest that is polyester, so I figured it probabaly would bleed, but just in case, I added 3 color catchers and washed in cold water. Two caught nothing really and looked a little gray--no gray or black clothes were in the load--then the third looked like it had purplish spots. One sock and my khakis that were under the vest when i pulled it all out were bright pink in the areas near part of the vest, but other items were unscathed. It is the weirdest thing I have ever seen! I immediately stuck my sock and khakis into a bowl of water and some Biz in hopes of getting it out. So disappointed. This isn't the first time it's happened. I have lost faith in this product I used to love!
Thought I'd try this, to save time... I separate colors religiously! I guess I need to keep faith in my "laundering beliefs," because these did not work! I added two, as suggested for larger loads... Now hoping the borax soak will take out the new stains that appeared after mixing colors.... Thankful I didn't try it on something even more favored!
It did not "catch" the color but my clothes did and now they are ruined. They are brand new clothes, so I should be able to return them still but it is such a hassle. I will just continue to separate colors because that is a sure thing while this paper you throw in the was is Not. I used cold water, it did not work.
