I love the flavor, but it's a tiny bit thicker than regular whole milk. I just add a glass of cold, filtered water to the box and it's the exact consistency I like, without changing the flavor. Surprised they don't post the nutrition label, so posted for reference
Silk Milk is the only soy milk available in my area. It's not a bad product, but I prefer a less thickened up milk, one with a more nature consistency. Therefore the Silk Soy Milk Original gets 4 stars. I have found the cap is very difficult to remove. Pliers are involved to loosen it. I have to shave off those little tabs on the screw portion on the container so I can open the cap easier. I understand the tabs are a locking mechanism to assure cap is on tight, however arthritic fingers can't grip a small cap hard enough to turn it. Even though I have found a work-around so I can open the container, I'm not sure in the long run I will continue buying any Silk products that have thiese locking tabs I have been buying oat, almond, and rice milks in other milk brands that don't have that kind of tab. I think it's time to remove those tabs!
I am now getting an allergic reaction to Silk Original Soy Milk. Very disappointing. I hope it is just this carton and not all of it, as I have very little to drink that provides calcium and have no allergies to. I hope the formula wasn't recently changed (Dec. 2023).
I just purchased a carton with a 2023 expiration date, I poured it and drank about an ounce, I first thought the bitter taste was due to it being a different brand than my usual but when I smelled it I literally wanted to vomit. The smell of rotten eggs is so intense I thought it somehow was the glass I was drinking from that wasn't washed properly, it wasn't… I've found several other people have the same issue, the consistency is normal and the color is normal as well, and the expiration date is not for another year so what is going on at that factory?! I have a super upset stomach now, I'll gladly go back to my regular brand.
Others have spoken to this problem before, but it bears repeating: Silk's twist-off caps are impossible to open! What's especially stunning is that Silk obviously knows this, and has known this for years, but refuses to do anything about it. Even at the cost of turning off loyal customers and losing sales (mine, for one). Sad case of tone-deaf management. Goodbye, Silk!
I've been drinking this for a few years and have always loved it but recently purchase two half gallons with expiration dates of about five weeks from now and they were both sour and clumped upon opening on the same day as the purchase.
Tried this. It's not good for cooking. It's not good in my cereal. The taste is off. My next milk was discontinued and I don't understand how silk can make a near perfect product that tastes like cows milk and doesn't curdle while cooking with it. I'm shattered! Bring Next Milk back!
If I could give it zero stars I would! This was the only milk my daughter could drink due to allergies and she loved it. Don't know if they changed the recipe or what but it looks yellow and it smells like rotten eggs. We have purchased multiple ones and from different places and had to throw them away . Very disappointing.
I have bought Silk soy milk for many years, recently 2 of the last 3 cartons have had a very bitter taste and have become thicker after no more than 3 days after opening and in refrigerator. I had opened and used the carton I was going to use this morning 3 days ago. I poured it onto my cereal and noticed it had become thick like one I had previously, I took one sip and threw the carton out it was that bitter. It has a best by date of 27 Jan 2024, for years I've been able to use even over a week after best by date as it's always tasted good. Now 2 out of 3 cartons well before best by date, I have drank soy milk for some 30 years both overseas and here in the US, now I may have to start using cows milk like my wife, what has changed??
I've bought the refrigerated red soy milk for the last few years. Yesterday I noticed the package has changed. This morning my kids went to use this in cereal, they said it smells like rotten eggs. It does and it's gross. We buy 8 gallons a month. I'll never buy this again until you go back to the old formula.
