My other machine is a Janome Memorycraft 10000 that cost several thousand more than the Singer 7258. Rarely use it now! I give the Singer 7258 4.5 stars !!!!

I took a chance on a factory refurbished machine

I took a chance on a Singer 7258 refurbished sewing machine. It looked new and had all the parts, manuals, everything in original packaging. It had a Singer Factory Seal on it. I tried it out and noted that the automatic needle threader did not work. In fact, when I tried to pull it down the part just fell off. I thought well I will just thread the needle myself and try out the different stitches. The needle kept falling out even though I tightened it. When I did get some sewing done, I thought it was a little on the louder side compared to my Janome machine. I have an expensive Janome S5. The Singer was purchased for my daughter. I returned the machine and bought her a Janome 18750. It has less stitches, but works well. It is much quieter and pretty heavy duty. Maybe I should have purchased a brand new Singer 7258. But I am used to the Janome and was not impressed with the Singer. So I went back to what I knew would be an overall better quality machine.
