THIS IS THE SECOND SPECK SMARTSHELL MACBOOK CASE THAT I HAVE PURCHASED FROM SPECK. I HAD THE FIRST CASE FOR 3 YEARS AND THE ONLY REASON THAT I DON'T HAVE IT ANYMORE IS THAT I GOT A NEW COMPUTER AND THE PLUG INS CHANGED. I PURCHASED THIS CASE AND IT FITS THE NEW MACBOOK PRO PERFECT. IT EASILY CLIPPED ON, AND THE CASE IS SOLID, WITH NICE RUBBERIZED FEET ON THE BOTTOM. THE COLOR IS SLEEK AND THE CASE FELLS SMOOTH YET GRIPS SO IT DOES NOT SLIDE ON SURFACES. This worked perfect for my new Mac! The fit is great and I feel much better about traveling with my Mac because I really feel it is protected! I also love the wild berry purple color! A nice matte finish that looks great with the space gray MacBook Pro color!!
Love these Speck cases! This is my second one and just like the last one, it is perfect! Fits great and keeps my laptop slim yet protected. Love the calypso blue color! I bought this brand of case because it doesn't have a raised bit to hold the case to the laptop the near the touchpad area where I usually rest my hand, so it's been more comfortable than other similar cases I've used. It's thin and looks good. It's transparent enough that if you print out things and put them under the case you can see/read them easily through the case. It doesn't stay super clear for long, though; it gets scratched easily. Overall this case is pretty good; I've taken in off about twice and none of the pieces that hold it onto the laptop have broken. However, one of the thinnest areas, between the back left foot and the edge of the case near the thunderbolt ports, cracked during normal usage (it was not dropped or anything), and that foot fell off as a result.
Bought this in hopes it would be as sturdy as our previous incase however this was installed and immediately started cracking on all corners from installation. It sits in our house and barely gets moved for the most part but it's literally disintegrating at every open edge corner. Not sure it's even worth the hassle of warrantying will simply purchase another incase in the future as soon as this one finishes falling apart from looking at it, of which the incase lasted for several years with no issues.
Broke within a week. Second one for this model that has broken. Won't buy it again.
I used to love Speck products. However this one is poorly made and keeps on cracking.
