We love these. We use them to secure our ATV's to our trailer. We have purchased 4 sets. We love the fact there are no long dangling ends to deal with.
Great product. Works will reducing time spent on dealing with the extra part of the strap. It doesn't quite retract all the way but you just use your finger to wind back and all is good. No more tying up the extra strap and having it blow in the wind. I use it on ATV's and reduces my setup time to trailing to less than five minutes.
I have been using these for a few years. A friend tried a different brand that is also retractable and he has had nothing but trouble with those. I am ordering a set of these for him as a gift. I use mine for hauling quads and I use them all the time. I wouldn't be happy with another type of tie down. I highly recommend them and they have lasted for years.
These retractable ratchet straps are so much more convenient than the plain ratchet straps. Just having the extra straps out of the way after hooking up is much safer and less confusing than having the retraction to pull them into place. Much neater and less work, too.
I hate the packaging. Needs wire cutters and patience. The automatic rewind addresses my pet peave with ratchet straps: which is the effort it takes to keep them neat after you're done using them. This implementation works fairly well. The primary issue is that even with retraction button it doesn't fully retract. It's close enough that a couple of ratchets and it is fully retracted.
I ordered these to hold our kayaks on the vehicle. As previous reviews reported they do not always retract completely. This is easily solved by ratcheting them in the last couple inches. They do the job nicely although the operation is slightly inconvenient for our purpose, as general use tie downs they work very well. The stationary side is very short and the extra 6 inches on our other set was better for our purpose. Over all they will do exactly what they were designed to do. I wish the stationary end was longer. It was not something I considered would be different among models. Since this was use specific it us the information would have been helpful.
I have only used once but they worked fine and the wind up function was good, have to make sure you keep them straight while feeding in or will jam up but when stored this way is very easy and faster unroll and use.
These are a nice set up,but i wanted to go cheap so i bought these to hold my Polaris RZR to my trailer,Design is good but they snapped one by one as i didnt look to see the 500 lb working strength,Protect your investment and spend about 60.00 to 80.00 for the 1500 working lbs (if needed) I could never forgive myself if this came off going down the road and hurt or killed someone,I wont be cheap with tie downs,EVER again,,,,
I am diagnosed as insane because I keep thinking these are going to improve. I have purchased multiple sets of these (about 10 sets now)because the concept is spectacular! However, every set I have purchased is now in the trash. They first stop retracting leaving you with manually ratcheting them back in to store them neatly. Ok, not a huge deal. This has happened within about the 7th to 10th use on every set I have purchased. The latest incident has me wishing I hadn't thrown the last one away and had sought the services of a lawyer. I now have a physical impairment in my hand due to the failure of the dogs that make contact with the tensioning "wheel" that they ratchet on to tighten. When it failed it sent my hand into the item and caused a torn tendon on my third digit from hyperflexion. I can't shake hands, make a fist, or hold my coffee tumbler with my dominant hand now without significant pain. The healing is VERY slow. NEVER AGAIN! NOT ANOTHER DOLLAR!
i bought these with high expectations. They are very convienant but the first time i used them 3 out of the 4 frayed almost all the way through. i took tem back not worth it stay away!!!
