I got this for my 5 year old son & he absolutely loved it. It's not too hard to dig, but it's also not super easy. I was sick & this kept my son occupied for over an hour & when he'd find one of the gems, he was super excited.
My kids loved it!!!! They found 11 gems
Bought this as a gift for my 7yr old nephew, who thoroughly enjoy digging for the stones. What a blast but have a vacuum
My 6-year-old had seen a similar toy/craft/learning activity on YouTube; I found this one on sale at WalMart and decided to give it a try. She worked on it carefully and intently until she found all 11 gems/stones. She enjoyed it so much, she asked for another one, and we also bought one for her friend as a birthday gift. My daughter was just as engaged with the second kit as with the first one - each has the possibility of having different gems/stones, so it is never exactly the same experience. A similar product is on the market that is approximately half the price of this one but only has one stone to find - with 11 different "finds" this kit is definitely a bargain! I was impressed with the accessories included as well - it comes with goggles to keep the child's eyes protected, as well as a magnifying class, a nice wooden hammer & chisel, and more!
Rock and gems were smaller than expected but for the price was a fun cpl hours!!!!
Purchased for 9 year old grandchild who wanted to start digging immediately! Lots of enjoyment for a great price. Recommend the kiddo works on this outdoors, it is a bit messy
I got this for a Christmas gift and I am really enjoying it. Except for the shards that break off while searching the gems and minerals go EVERYWHERE. It's probably best to do this in the backyard or a workshop. Also, the goggles and other tools don't really fit adult hands/heads. Otherwise, very fun and well worth the money.
this didn't take very long to dig out the gems and rocks wish it was a little more challenging but 9 yr. old enjoyed it and it was a good price.
Good playful method teaching children to have great patience, as they must work to get all of the Gem's from the rock. About over an hour of entertainment. We received 9 Gems from our rock. Only real disappointment was that nothing was Medium-sized, in fact most had been no bigger then a pebble. Cleanup is easy, simply use water. Will most likely buy another box in the future as our child was happy and entertained.
