The main things I like about this smoker was the price and its light weight. The smoker is very easy to move around for storage after use. For the price it is a very efficient smoker. I smoked 2 lbs of salmon in under 2 hours and it turned out great. The main thing you must remember is that this is a smoker and does not cook food.
This is amazing! My dad had one when I was young and used it for fish and venison. I used it for bear jerky and it was awesome. Easy to use and super reliable.
This is my second Big Chief smoker. I owned the first for over 20 years. It's reliable, easy to use and durable. It is also light-weight and easy to move and store.

I'm very happy that it's American made. I was a little disappointed to find out that it's not intended to cook the meat, only to give it a smoky flavor. I did smoke 5lbs of pork ribs for 3hrs and then pressure cooked them for 20min and they turned out fall off the bone perfect.
This smoker was everything I needed in a smoker. It has five large racks and enough room to smoke over 10 large salmon at once!

Does a good job, especially for the price. I am just learning how to smoke meats and experienced friends are impressed with what I have done so far and that I am using a Big Chief. If you love to cook - having a smoker is a great addition to your gadgetry.
This smoker is as cheap as they come, it took me 8 hours to smoke a slab of ribs,,,pork, it kept turning off, for as long as. 30 minutes, no consent, no heat adjustment on it,,DON'T BUY THIS SMOKER, IT ISN'T WORTH THE PRICE
The unit caught on fire after first use! I don't understand why the unit caught on fire but fortunately I was close by monitoring the smoking process and noticed dark smoke coming from the unit and when I checked the unit there were flames blazing inside. It burned the meat inside to a crisp! The inside of the box was severely burned from the fire in the box. I have owned one of these units for many years in the past and didn't experience this type of issue. Now, I'm anxious regarding using these Big Chief Smokers. This could've been a very dangerous and costly manner had I not been monitoring the smoking process. I had to dump water onto the top of the and allow the water to drain down to where the fire was burning to extinguish the fire. If, I had taken the front cover off I'm certain the oxygen in the air would've carried the fire!
