Quick assembly. Tight fitting door. Great portability. Easy to use. Love the drawers for huge water pan & chip box. Also a great full sized grease pan drawer. No over flow of grease after first use. We did ribs for six hours. They turned out fall off the bone good. Never had to refill the water or chips. Just set & left until done. So much easier than our much more expensive wood smoker. You won't regret getting it!!!
EASY TO SET UP AND USE, SET TIME AND TEMPERATURE THEN DO OTHER THINGS UNTIL YOUR FOOD IS READY. LIKE USING AN OVEN.
Easy to put together. The bottom handle on the drawer was a little tricky just due to where it was, but was accomplished. Top rack position is way too close to the interior roof to be able to be versatile but those are the only two negatives I have about it. Overall a great smoker and fairly easy to clean. Drafts great and so far everything I've smoked has turned out perfect! It's nice to set it and forget it until it's time to put more wood chips or water. Great product at a reasonable price!
The smoker arrived well before the expected delivery date. It was extremely well packaged. The 20 minute set up time took me twice that to accomplish. Bi-focal glasses & aging body mostly to blame. I chose this smoker for the features of wheels, the temp. probe and the two drawers rather than adding chips to a little gadget on the side or back. Walmart had the best price. It needs to be kept out of the weather...we have ours on our screened porch. The drawer feature does makes it easy to add wood chips and water during the cooking process, however, removing the water pan without spilling if it is still fairly full proves tricky. We have used it twice and added great mesquite flavor to the turkey roast and baby back ribs. The wheels on the bottom make it easy to move about as needed. Spray the racks before use & clean up is very easy.
I am a first time smoker. This is a nice smoker and works well. The only thing is the drawer with the water tray & wood chip box doesn't seal well. That can be fixed very easely with some weather stripping.
The reason for the 3 star review is this smoker takes a long time to come up to temp. With 4 racks of ribs, it took 4 hrs to come up to 225 deg. and a total of 6 hrs to finish rids that take 4 in my manual smoker.
my first model lasted 1 time before control panel quit working, all seals fell off doors.... model was replaced with a new one and it only lasted 9 use's . same problems same junk, company will not replace again so i paid $384.00 plus tax for 10 uses....stay away from this whole company. plus it does take forever to heat up...honestly all around junk
The control panel would not work the second time I used it. The timer would not work. would not buy again. Waiting on replacement part with a load of uncooked chicken.
I ordered the same smoker twice. The first came with a large dent on the top edge of the smoker near the controls. So, I returned it. The second came with a six gash in the door. So, I returned it and the cover. No third time for me. I read that the model was on closeout. Both packages the smokers came in looked like they had been opened before like a return.
My experience with WalMart was wonderful. The whole on-line process was quick, smooth and delivery was timely for the site to store pickup. The Smokey Mountain Smoker was a joke. After getting it all put together, the digital display read ERR-1....instruction manual says to call manufacturer. Called manufacturer (Landmann) and they calmly informed us that it would be APRIL before they could get us the replacement part. Loaded up the smoker and returned it to WalMart, who was very apologetic and sorry for our bad experience. Won't purchase this brand, ever!
