I have had this camera for a little bit of time now, and I must admit! This is an amazing camera to work with! I have never had any issues and my photos come out of GREAT quality! I love telling clients and friends that I roll with Sony and my model is a a6400! I cant wait to be able to get a new lease for it to show off and enhance my skills further!
When got the camera bought it as body only because I had Emount lens for my A6000 I put the 1650 lens I had on the a6400 and it rejeted the lens but what i found is that I had left the ND filter on the lens so when I removed it it work fine it works fine when the lens put on the camera first then turn on the camera the add the filter after you turn it on

I BOUGHT THIS CAMERA AS A BACKUP CAMERA TO UPGRADE FROM AN A6000. THE A6000 IS AWESOME BUT I WANTED SOME OF THE NEWER FEATURES. I WAS NOTIFIED THAT THERE IS A REBATE ON THIS AND WHEN I GO TO THE SONY SITE THERE IS NO WAY TO SUBMIT A REBATE FORM.
I already have a SONY A6000 series and this one offered some great advantages the other did not have. Tracking being the biggest one. Overall picture quality higher and quicker of operation. A delightful little camera. Great for travel (I used it in Europe while on vaca, and is not cumbersome).
It is a great camera. Great quality picturea, but the menus is so complicated. A new simple, user friendly menu should be use
I've had this camera for 3 years now and I'm quite pleased with it as a back up travel camera. I like the light weight, compact size together with the 17-105 f/4 G lens. Picture quality is good, albeit not fantastic.
I may have gotten a dud, but my camera is not as sharp as my old a6000. Unfortunately I discovered this too late as I started using it in place of the a6000. After a year I had need to use both at the same time and discovered the sharpness issue. It might be due to a glossy section in the mount where it looks like it was not coated with the same stuff that the rest of it was. Maybe light is reflecting weirdly giving it a softer look. If your coming from the a6000 be sure to compare the new model to it. Otherwise, the features on the a6500 are superior.
Three years ago, we "updated" to a mirrorless. This has never been a favorite camera. It developed a crack in the body, not sure how, The screen works sometimes, and does not work other times. Of all the cameras that I have owned, it has worn out much faster even though I use it the same (maybe less) than my previous cameras. Last camera-had 10 years plus. Sony 6400 3 years (but quality degraded around 1.5/2 years)
Can't 'verify connection' when attached via USB - although the connection is working to transfer files. Stuck in an endless loop trying to get it to connect so I can add and update apps. Nothing online that matches the ''error' message. So all of that USB/software stuff is useless to me.
