Happiness is being able to travel with my new Sony. Lightweight for a woman.
I purchased the a7II for the purpose of being able to use vintage lenses from Konica, Minolta, Leica, Pentax, Olympus, Industar, Pentax, Zeiss, Fed, Contax, Kiev, Yashica, Nikon, Canon and a host of others. The Sony a7II has the widest range of after-market adapters for the above brands I mentioned, and possibly more. This camera can take rangefinder lenses, as well as SLR lenses, which is a huge advantage to any professional photographer. I love the way it feels in my hands. The shutter click sounds amazing. And the smaller than average size (it's mirrorless) is perfect. The menu layout is very logical and easy to figure out. The display automatically changes from viewfinder to LCD screen, and you can turn that off if you want. Add one more plus: It's a full-frame sensor!
I love the Sony a7II Camera. It's all that I expected it to be! So many great features like Automatic and Manual shooting modes. This camera with the right lens will have me shooting like a pro in no time!!!
I'm so pleased that I switched to a mirrorless fullframe and SONY has made this possible by making it very affordable with very little compromises. the AF is very good comparing it to similar priced semi-professional fullframe DSLRs. Also, considering that recent firmware updates have made most of my canon lens perform at native speeds, it wasn't too difficult letting go of my canon 6D. I'm impressed.
Have been using camera for a while works excellent only issue is battery I wish Sony made a grip which uses a77 battery. So it last longer and can power 200mm lenses in auto focus mode. Sony excellent company keep Making good products Thank You
The a7ii does everything well. Not as bulky as the Canon or Nikon. Paired with the Sony 24-70mm f2.8, the camera is simply assume. This is the ultimate camera.
Before this, I had an a7. The Mark II is definitely nice. The autofocus, while improved, isn't something I'd consider a significant betterment of this camera. Still don't like how a lot of its functions, including the EVF, are battery-drainers. In order to get the most out of the batteries, I keep mine in Airport Mode at all times. All-in-all: 8/10. The Zeiss glass made me come back to Sony over Canon.
I bought this camera because I have a lot of Minolta equipment and have always had a great experience with Minolta. I also have an older Alpha series camera that has taken great pictures with very little effort. This takes great pictures, but now needs some service work and it is almost impossible to find anyone who will touch it.
At the 2 year mark, my a9's shutter button does not work correctly. It a defect in the model as I have seen many complaints about it online. For Sony not to address this problem is a problem in itself. I've been a professional commercial photographer for 38 years and have never had a shutter button malfunction. They should repair it free of charge. I own 5 Sony Mirrorless cameras.
The image quality is great. Focusing is rather a pain. Unlike other bodies, this one does not allow you to easily manually search for a focus point. I should have done more research about the eye auto focus on this body, as it is only available in S-Focus mode. But I will say I was very happy with the image quality. I gave it 3 stars because I was having issues with it not finding focus quickly on my 50mm, and I really don't enjoy the pains of selecting a focus point.
