The lightweight is so noce for handheld , focus is fast and sharpness is good
I am thrilled with the lens's versatility and performance in varying light conditions. The picture quality is exceptional.
This lens has it all; Quick, sharp AF, nice balance, lightweight, and the build and features I expect from a GM lens. Recently, I went to a museum with a butterfly house to see if I could catch some butterflies in flight. Those guys are erratic in the air to say the least. I was amazed at the quick, sharp focus and beautiful colors this lens could capture. Some examples attached.
It's an awsome a bit pricy but all together its sharp an accurate in colors and very fast on focus
I watched jealously as I saw others use and review this great lens until I got it myself and wow if it's not my daily go too for literally everything!! The precise, clear, stable photos that come from this lens has me mind blown. If you are on the fence from the first gen, you won't be disappointed with upgrading to mark II.
I had the original GM lens previously which I loved. But this new GM II is better in every way! As advertised!
This lens is a must have when you are doing portraits. It is my go-to lens for dance, family/senior portraits, and equine/pet portraits. Sharper than the previous version. Love that it is lighter.
Ive shot with Sony, Canon and Nikon for many years. This, in my opinion, is the best 24-70 lens Ive ever used. It is pin sharp, great color, image quality, contrast, focus performance is sensational and its light! One of the many reasons I now shoot Sony!
This GM II lens is on a lar with my Leica M and L-mount lenses, which is a high compliment.
I really enjoyed the lens for the first 3-6 months. I used to own the 1st gen, and I feel like this lens is sharper with better coatings. Unfortunately, I was disappointed, because I noticed a crazy amount of dust inside the lens after using it for only 3-6 months. None of my older Sony lenses, including the original 24-70 GM or even the older and much cheaper Sony 16-35 f/4 Zeiss had any dust inside. The new GM 2 is vacuuming the air like crazy. I shoot at apertures closer to f/8-f/9 (I shoot high-end interior design and architecture), and that dust can be noticeable in some of the photographs, which is unforgivable for a lens, which as Sony claims itself, "updated dust and moisture resistant design provides extra reliability for outdoor use in challenging conditions". Well, I mostly use the lens indoors, and it still got crazy amount of dust inside. And it affected not only the front element, but several elements behind it, so getting it clean won't be a cheap thing to do, which basically adds to its already high cost (it will also affect its resale value if you don't get it professionally cleaned before selling it). Again, the 1st generation was on another level in that regard.
