I researched the Kindle and the Sony PDR and for my purposes I chose the Sony. It was cheaper, has a cover, and removable memory (Kindle does not). I can not only download books but also pictures, and mp3s, word documents as well. I don't know why more people don't have these already!
I really enjoy reading on this little Sony Reader. It's easy to carry around, I can read more than one book at a time. I can mark my current page in the book as well as any other page that has a passage or scene I may want to revisit. In addition the free classic books offered by Sony's e-books is a wonderful benefit. I'm reading some classic literature that I always wanted to read but never had the opportunity. My daughter also loves it and even asked if I would buy her one for Christmas!
I've had this reader for almost a week and it's without a doubt well worth the wait. Also, since it's Sony's third generation of e-readers, seems like the bugs have been worked out of this one. Everybody asks me if I have trouble using it in sunlight and I explain to them it's designed to be used in the light and let them try it out in the sunlight and they're surprised there's no problem with sunlight glare. I look forward to putting this product through it's paces when I go on deployment soon. Love to read but don't like carrying around all those books.
I like the ease of use of my Sony Digital Book reader. I can easily put it in my purse or briefcase and I'm off. The 3 sizes of print is most helpful also as I can enlarge the print to be able to read without my glasses. The two draw backs that I can see to improve my Digital Book would be a light and for Barnes and Noble to allow the down load of their books. Nonna
I've had my Sony reader for a few weeks now and I am thrilled with it. I've had no problems at all with any of it's functionality. This is a great item, either as a gift, or as a personal treat, for anyone who loves to read and loves to take their books with them when they go places.
I have moved many times over the years and am always buying books. I finally decided an ereader may be the way to go. I am so glad that I bought this product. It is so handy!!! I absolutely love it to read books. I have found that most book prices at sony compare to those on amazon and with new sites all the time I can usually find the book I am looking for. Some are just not yet out. It is so easy and perfect for reading. The sony site can sometimes freeze but starts back up. All of my books in one spot is great. I admit I still like to hold books and will not get rid of the ones I own but all of my new ones will go on to the reader. I really like the fact that you can put books into collections and group them how you want to.
This product has really exceeded my expectations. I wasn't sure I would like the display and the way that pages turn, but I don't even notice it any more. It is definitely a great way to read, especially if you travel because now you don't have to carry all those books around.
I am a big reader, always have been. I love the smell of books and bookstores, so a digital reader, while neat, seemed like it wasn't the option for me. However, I am running out of room for my books and decided to take the plunge after 4 months of debating. From the moment I got it I was hooked! No more dragging multiple, sometimes heavy books around to work and appointments - now it all fits on this incredible, slim and lightweight gadget! I can't say enough good things about this product. It was soooo worth it and I am incredibly pleased.
I love this thing. It is very easy to read and loads quickly. There are however some changes I would make if I could. The next page buttons on the side are too small. I have not tried but think I would like the wireless option available with Amazon's Kindle. Some kind of back light availability for reading in low light or dark conditions. These are almost insignificant things I see that might make it even better, but just to reiterate, I love it.
I thought that the product was a bit too expensive and spent a considerable amount of time looking for the best deal. After recieving it, I was pleasently suprised that the reader screen did in fact read like paper. So much so in fact, that I still find myself reaching to change the page like it was a real book. It is slow in rendering pictures and changing pages, however I bought it to read books rather than veiw pictures. It is small and light, perfect for all of my travels. I can recommend this product for anyone that is on the go and has the money for this convenience. Being a bit pricey, I would not recommend it for those that have to think twice about the price. The reading experience is NOT better than a real book, just merely more convenient for those that have lots of books that they would like to take with them.
