My Daughter loved this when I bought it for her and my new grandson. He still uses it and he is almost 2 years old now.
This was purchased for my first baby's room, and although it took a bit of work to assemble, it looks great. I'm a bit of an expert at assembling Ikea furniture, so this was just a little bit more involved than that. I even assembled this myself at 8 months pregnant. I'm not sure what other reviewers are talking about when they say holes are not pre-drilled. I did not have an issue with that at all. Everything was there, and where it was supposed to be. There are extra hardware bits that come with it as well, in case you lose something, but the directions warn of that anyway. The dresser is HEAVY, even for particle board furniture. The lower portion of the top is the perfect size for a changing pad, and the higher part for placing your wipes, diapers, lamp etc out of reach. Knobs are easy to switch out, which I will be doing since there isn't any contrast between the knobs and front. This is not a $600 solid wood dresser, so as long as you keep that in mind, this is a great purchase for it's price.
I was worried how difficult this would be to put together and damage to the pieces after reading the other reviews. It wasn't too bad on difficulty considering my husbands lack of patience, this was fairly easy for him just very time consuming. There was minimal damage to some pieces but nothing major or in any areas that would be seen. This is a nice sturdy piece of furniture once put together. It's actually pretty big or at least bigger than I expected. My only complaint is while removing this from packaging the day prior to putting together and the day of construction (2 days) there seemed to be something about this that made both myself and husband sick feeling. It had a very strong smell of "new" furniture I guess you could say and I felt like I had inhaled something and had this cloud in my chest. After leaving the room we both felt better and aired out the room after that it was bearable, I'm not sure what it was but was worrisome being that we both experienced the same issues and don't normally have reactions like some people do. Also the tracks to the dresser drawers are plastic and very stiff at the moment hopefully after some time they will be easier to pull and don't break.
Fairly time consuming to put together but the pictures are very helpful. Little disappointed it's mostly particle board but for just over $200 bucks it's a nice dresser.
The overall description of this dresser is 'NICE'! However, this dresser was very labor intensive. A lot of the holes were not pre-drilled. You have to make them yourself which makes for a long assembly time and very sore hands. The instructions are pretty straight-forward and guide you well, but your assembly time will be long if you dont have a drill of some sort when building the shelves.
I purchased this changing table combo for the nursery of my third child. I wanted something simple yet upscale looking to match the Graco Rory Espresso crib we had purchased. This combo fits that description when you get the replacement parts you need due to the damage from shipping! My husband and I were very excited to put together this changing table to finish my baby's nursery when it was delivered. However, when it was delivered to my home the FedEx truck backed into my driveway and threw it out of the truck which in turn damaged the top where you change the baby and all three drawers! We were very disappointed to say the least. We called the South Shore company which was very helpful with the situation and shipped us out the replacement parts. After receiving the parts we were able to finish the table which is beautiful and matches our crib perfectly. We now have the gorgeous nursery we wanted.
While a good price, most will find this to be a lot more toil and assembly labor required than the savings warrant. Unless you've had some decent assembly experience, expect to spend a solid weekend on this. As it is a lot of particle board, the instructions warn against using power drills, tools. Yet, in some cases you'll be required to drill your own holes, etc. - Just to forewarn. All in all not a bad deal though. I'd recommend the manufacturer add some more wording, beyond just general picture/diagrams in the instructions.
OK materials
I'm not sure what exactly I was expecting from ordering Walmart furniture... I ordered this item online for our baby's room. For it looking like a fairly simple structure to put together, it took my husband and I nearly 4 hours. The pictures descriptions didn't match the physical pieces, pilot holes were drilled in wrong places and it is just typical "imperfect" particle boatd furniture in that it doesn't exactly line up 100% and its cheaply built. Also, it arrived broken but we didn't know it until it was nearly completely assembled, so by that point there was no sense in taking it apart and trying to repackage it to return. It's sturdy enough and will serve its purpose... But next time I will def dish out a little more $$ for something a little nicer.
For the money that was spent on this dresser I am extremely disappointed but the quality. When it arrived it had so many bucks and chunks missing. Do NOT spend the money. The drawers do not stay closed.
