On lesson 4.4 page 62 the answer to question two is incorrect. The answer sheet should say 11/14 × 16 but it said 14/11 ×16. I believe that you should fix this mistake.
Put my brain to work. I love it tho.
I'm a teacher and have used the Spectrum workbooks with my own kids for several years with great success. I particularly like the layout in the math workbooks where there is a pretest, lessons (including clear examples with work) and then a final test for each unit.
easy to teach easy to learn. Very grade appropriate. Highly recommend.
The teacher I purchased these for has used them on a daily basis. She loves that it gives her students extra help.
This math book is very good for my kid to practice math at home. They teach my kid how to solve and explain the step by step. Great book for kids especially when you do not have enough money to get the prep school.
We use this for homeschooling. Each lesson has an example at the top of the page. Spectrum work books are great.
I have been using this as a tool to tutor, and have found several inconsistencies. Example: page 68 in the post test - #4&5 are incorrect in the answer book according to directions given in the lessons for that chapter. In number 4, it says the answer is 1/5, but it's actually 5. K=y/x . Need to check your stuff people!
First lesson: Understanding Absolute Value. "The absolute value of a number is a number that is the same distance from zero on a number line as the given number, but on the opposite side of zero. -8 and 8 are absolute value because they are the same distance from zero on opposite sides of the number line." Um, no. After puzzling over this grossly horrific lie, I realized that it was a typo. The page of exercises that followed asks the student to find the "opposite" of given numbers. And the next lesson is about absolute values, and defines it correctly. So, it's a typo. Every spot that says "absolute value" is supposed to say "opposite". A typo. But a massively huge one. Not just once, not twice, but three times (lesson title and twice in the paragraph). In the very first lesson of the book. If you don't believe me, look at the sample pages on this very web page. It's in there.
Nothing in the book i knew or was even tought throught my 7th grade year, just put more homework on me. Don't recommend.
