I've had this ratchet for a little over a year. It has always served me well. I have not had any problems with it at all. I work on lawn mowers and Lawn Care Equipment and it has proved itself useful over and over again for me. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
I have two of these I use all the time on my mower and my pulling tractor.I did brake on where the socket attaches.i called Stanley and told them with in a week I had a new one.for the price and wranty can't beat any Stanley tool. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
This ratchet is handy, a little bulky for a 1/4" ratchet, but the feel is good. Good for small jobs nothing heavy that's torqued with a lot of Lbs. The pear shape is not so good at squeezing into tight spots, but just for small bots 12mm and under it does the job I need it too.
very good price
Nice 1/4 inch Drive Head, fits nicely in tight spaces and has a quick release. These Stanley Ratchets are pretty good, as good as more expensive brands
I have had this ratchet for over 5 years. I like how comfortable it is to use, when it works. As other reviewers stated, It gets stuck and will not work unless the lever is held while ratcheting. I believe the issue is with the spring and the spring leg. I fiddled with mine and angled the spring leg towards the pawl base while it's in the pawl hole and it seems to have temporarily solved the pawl from sticking to the gear. Stanley fix this issue and you have a good ratchet for a great price.
It's unfortunate because I love the feel of it in my hand, but as others have stated, it will jump from right hand to left hand rotation unprovoked during normal use. After about 6 months of occasional hobby use, I was removing a 12mm bolt from a honda accord door hinge and the 1/4 inch drive head on the ratchet snapped right off flush with the socket end. Just as a reference, I grabbed my swivel head harbor freight 1/4 inch drive and it proceeded to remove that same bolt and 6 more without issue..... now I'm stuck trying to warranty it since it came in a set.
The ratchet will reverse itself while in use. I have used Stanley tools and will continue to use Stanley Tools, but I am very disappointed with this ratchet.
I have had this ratchet for a long time and I always fight with it. The level always falls to a position where it will not turn. If you barely touch it does this and it hangs in the way of using it. You cannot use it without this happening. I even ground off the lever to make it harder to touch on accident. I think even gravity knocks it into a mode were it won't ratchet. I was about to ask for a new one under warranty, but I see it is the same terrible design...so why bother. It is too annoying to waste time on. I have to look for a better one. The ratchet has a good shape. It is just the fact that it never stays in the mode your trying to use and your constantly fighting it.
Like other reviewer stated this product reverses itself while in use and has occasionally skipped right out of the box.
