Great Design and Materials, LOUSY construction

First and foremost this is a GREAT design for a mobile work center and it uses much stronger materials than a lot of the others out there (Stanley products included). The only week point in material quality that I can tell is the bottom drawer is made of much thinner plastic and has a pretty cheap plastic handle compared to the heavy duty metal latches at the top. I do not expect the handle to last long at all. This is, for me at least, the closest thing to tool chest design perfection that I have found. It is very easy to store and more importantly FIND your tools when you need them. I like to set up my tools as "kits" one set of tools for one type of job and I like to keep my kits separate. In my case it would be networking tools "kit", soldering tools "kit", PC Disassembly "kit", etc. This modular set up is great for that kind of work organization. This is also a great looking tool box that will be sure to instill equipment envy in all your buddies.... Now before you read below, understand that I DO like this chest. If I find that I can get more of them that are put together correctly and have all there parts I am probably going to order at least 5 more. The problem that I had with mine was not damage during shipment but really shoddy construction at the factory. They just plain left parts off the chest. 1st and foremost the drawer on the bottom only has one side of ball bearing sliders hardware. It is SUPPOSED to have it on both sides as I can see that from the images, the mounting points in the box and the fact that the drawer is very difficult to open and close without it. 2nd the hand dandy labels and label shields are missing from the fronts of some of the "lock" boxes (little thing, but irritating on top of everything else) . Thirdly, the box comes with mounting rails for the lock boxes so you can wall mount them while not in the tool chest. Very handy except they only gave enough to mount 3 of the 6 boxes. I hope I have a lemon here and Wal-Mart is going to fix it right, but for now I am waiting 3-4 business days while they "look" into my issue and the parts department will call me. Otherwise I will have to contact Stanley themselves to try and fix this (I've called them already about it, but since it is made by ZAG in Israel they don't carry the parts for their own branded product). Now assuming they can get there construction woes worked out, I would love to see this case on wider market with a few "version" two suggestions. Like I said before this case is ALMOST perfect for me. Make the changes below and it would be the one toolbox to rule them all....... 1. Make it a bit taller with three rows of boxes not two. Not only will the storage space increase significantly, but will make the top work area easier to access and use. 2. Make the bins slightly longer to better accommodate hand tools. (most fit, but enough don't to make it irritating to be SO close) 3. Make better use of the outside of the case. Seems to me they could have built into the mold mounts for the boxes so you could hang a few outside the case too. If not for traveling than while you are working from them. 4. Better stronger bottom drawer with a heavier duty, preferably metal handle. The floor and walls of the bin are going to warp easily with even a little amount of weight. Needs thicker plastic or reinforcement. What is there is just far too weak on both handle and bin. Slightly deeper wouldn't hurt either. 5. The lid is about 2 inches thick and except for reinforcement for strength mainly hollow. Seems like a great place for additional small parts bins. Anyways if you made this far in my rant I will just close with this....Yes, I would recommend it (just look over it very closely when you get it to make sure it is all there and also that it wasn't damaged during shipment).

Excellent box for the homeowner or professional. Well made in Israel, sturdy enough for the truck or in the garage. I will probably have two or three dedicated to specific tasks, at the price, it's possible. Room on top to bungie other totes or boxes to get to the jobsite. Amazingly, Walmart was way, way lower than other internet sites for the same item. It was an easy and great transaction, will surely do again.
