Perfect for MacBook Pro 13"
(5)
Reviewed in the USA on 2020-11-10T16:00:00

This is the best dock for MacBook Pro 13" I have found. It offers the dual screen support while having enough power to charge the MacBook. Note: the 15" MBP draws more power than the 13" so results may vary on the larger device.

No issues with 14 inch Macbook Pro

No issues with 2021 14 inch Macbook Pro... Pros: Charges Laptop, powers 2x Displayport 1440p monitors @75hertz, 1 GB ethernet, and 1 USB port used for external webcam. Completely silent, no coil whine or fan noise (Unlike model # DP3DOCK2DPPD) Cons/opinions: -Provided thunderbolt cable really short -Slides around when you have good cable management due to the dock not having much weight -Not enough USB A ports (only 2) -Would have been nice to have the Thunderbolt connector was on the back instead of front. (To connect to laptop). Makes my setup look messy. I would have bought another TB3 dock that had this, but as of July 2022, all other Startech docks are back ordered.

Simple enough to plug and go. Only issue is that it doesn't power my Mac as advertised. But it's not an inconvenience to plug in the dock and the Mac charger.

Works great after screen roulette finishes

No issues when it's working. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason when plugging it in to a Macbook on whether the external monitors will come back in the same rotation or not. Usually flipping the cable over or closing the laptop screen before plugging in will fix it. It's a small annoyance, but otherwise the dock works great.

Worked great until MacOS Sonoma

Have been using this dock for a few years with minimal issues. Since upgrading to Sonoma, it has stopped working. It worked in a few of the Sonoma betas, but does not work in the 14.0/14.1 final builds.

Drivers won't install

Work issued this dock for my Macbook Pro running Mojave 10.14.6. When trying to install the drivers I get the message "this driver can't be installed because your version of macOS is too new." So I guess I have a new paperweight?

Not worked as expected

- VGA signal produces waves on screen at 1920x1200 @60Hz (with the same cable and monitor that works well with other PC) - Mouse and keyboard disconnects intermittently when external SSD requires bandwith + Power delivery works + Build quality

Don't waste your time. DP no worky!

Tried replacing a Dell WD19TB with the StarTech TB3DK2DHV. After 1.5 hours, 7 cables, and two operating systems, couldn't get the StarTech to work using DisplayPort and two monitors. Only TWICE was I able to get just ONE monitor working. Checked drivers, firmware, settings, cables, verified both monitors set to DP 1.2, to no avail. Plugged the Dell WD19TB back in and BAM! It worked the first time. StarTech usually knocks it out of the park, so rather bummed about this one. Connecting to Windows 10 on Gigabyte Aero 15 XA laptop.

Unreliable
(1)
Reviewed in the USA on 2022-08-29T17:00:00

We bought five (5) of these units to work with Lenovo ThinkPad's. These laptops are equipped with TB3. We've ensured that the TB firmware is up to date on the systems. It does show connected in the Thunderbolt manager (Intel). If you connect a USB, fine, connect a monitor, gamble, connect two monitors, USB stops working. Reboot with a single monitor, USB still isn't working. Unplug USB (camera, USB, keyboard) and reboot with a single monitor, then plug in the USB, 50/50 chance of working. Absolutely unbelievable that a $600 dock is this un-reliable.
