I purchased this mouse about 8 years ago. But i sure did not pay 300 dollars for it. If im not mistaken i payed about 100$ total for it. This mouse came out at the start of World of Warcraft : Cataclysm if im not mistaken maybe wrath not sure. There is a learning curve, which is to be expected with any new hardware but one that isnt too steep. As far as the 10.6 million color options im going to go ahead and say thats a bunch of crud. While u can change the color somewhat the RGB lighting is no where near the fine tuning of todays RGB capable devices in fact most devices now are Chroma (chrome-ah) which has a wider array of color variation. Now as far of durability i can attest to the longevity seeing how again i have had this mouse and have been using it 4 to 8 hours daily for 8 years. As with any old mouse the left button is worn and doesnt always pick up the clicks but hey not bad for an 8 y.o mouse if i do say so myself. The RGB lighting as well as the optical sensor as well as the other buttons work perfectly Overall this is a well built mouse and is a must have collectors item for any world of warcraft fan.
This mouse is amazing! My friend is a WOW lover. I was trying to find a gift for his birthday. Finally I found this one. Looks like he likes it very much. Can't say much about how it uses and feels, 'cause he opens and uses it, not me. :-)
For the now clearance price, this mouse is a great deal. I purchased one when they launched at Blizzcon October 2011 for $60 and worked great up until my dog ate the cord August 2014. It is great for both WOW and Diablo 3, fits well in the hand with your thumb resting on the 4 side buttons and is able to map the 11 buttons to whatever configuration is necessary, freeing up the need for most keyboard functions. The software that comes with it is also a great way to create several profiles of configurations to accommodate several players and/or multiple games. It even lets you change the color and pulsation frequency of the light to easily see what profile you're using.
Even though the package says that is compatible with windows machines it will not work on machines that have windows 8 or 8.1. I tried to get a hold of steelseries to figure out a way to get it to work so that it did not crash my computer every time I tried to update the firmware but they have no phone number and it takes them forever to get back to you.
Very poor quality Mouse. Right click stopped working in a month. By that time I was unable to return it . Save yourself some trouble and buy a better gaming mouse for less money.
