The set up was relatively easy and with in a short amount of time I was up and running. The service works well as I've used it now for a week with no issues. Would recommend this to anyone who wants a land line that has caller id unlimited national calling and call waiting at a fraction of the price
We purchased 2 of the refurbished home phones. The one here at our home works great. The one we purchased for our RV which sets on 10 acres in the country works ok. Sometimes it is a little choppy when talking to my husband. Not sure if it is the phone or the unit. We took back our cheap phone to Walmart yesterday and got a A T & T phone to see if it is better.
Great buy. and savings. Took me a little, a week, to get my home phone number "Ported" to Straight talk, because I was using a wrong number to get the automatic activation, #22890 connected to the Straight Talk Wireless Home Phone device to program it. My mistake ! I'll set up automatic monthly payment for my Visa credit card. Bob
I had been debating whether to buy one of these for some time. What I did to set it up, other than what was in the instructions, was what I used to do with my old VOIP. I made sure the line coming in to the house was disconnected. Then I took one of my phone cords (RJ11) and plugged it from the device to a phone jack. It has the effect of back wiring the service to all of my other jacks in the house. It does come with a battery back up if the power goes out. I'm 100% satisfied with it.
The greatest value for a home phone on the planet. Easy to set up. It has Caller ID and Voicemail. Bought one for my 98 year old Mother in a extended care facility and one for our church hall for Perogie sales.
This is a great substitute to replace the high cost of a landline. Be aware that if you port your landline number from centurylink that it took 6 days. Straight Talk warns you that it could take longer but infer 2 days. Although I am sure centurylink made it more difficult. This was used with standard home phones and an answering machine. You have to set the answering machine to pickup before 6 rings otherwise it will go to Straight Talk voicemail. Since it uses Verizon's network you need to have their coverage to get a good signal. For most metropolitan areas that should not be an issue. Also be aware that the lowest refill cost is $15 plus tax and $30 if you want international. The battery backup is also a nice feature. This was a refurb but has a 1 year warranty AND you get one month free because it comes with a $15 prepaid card. Can't beat that.
Make sure you have good cell coverage for Verizon. Very good home phone alternative to at&t. Use to pay $35 for local calling, no free long distance, or phone features like call waiting or forwarding. Was able to port my home phone number. Only downside, since it is cell phone technology, my reception at home is 2 out of 3 lights, so voice is not the clearest, sometimes unable to hear the other person talking and must ask them to repeat.
we purchased this for a temporary situation and are very happy with the service and especially the $15 per month plus taxes for unlimited calling local and long distance. A few times we encounter "thank you for using Verizon....???" and cannot complete the call. However this is not often, just a few times and after several attempts we were able to complete the call. OVERALL i highly recommend this very affordable home phone which can double as an overgrown mobile phone as long as you have active service and plug a corded phone into it. The build in battery will hold charge for over 24hours. So, on the boat, in the car or RV you can have home phone. Just plug it back in when you reach your destination to charge the battery back up. LOVE this affordable home phone option
I've used this for about 2 weeks with no problems with calls. The calls are very clear with no static. Fifteen dollars a month beats paying cable co forty dollars a month. Only negative you can not use it to send faxes.
The $15 dollar bonus card that was provided was so old that half the numbers scratched off when I tried to expose them. I called Straight Talk, and was put on hold for over 3 hours without a resolution. I kept asking to talk to a "real" person instead of being put on hold again (for the next representative), and was never able to get the phone activated. VERY disappointed in the customer service & will never use Straight Talk again.
