I have had this phone for 2 years. So far, I have actually ran over it in the mud with my 4-wheel drive. washed it off. Ready to go again. The front has some scars. But, the inside is perfect .Has a loud ringer so you can hear it when you are working with motors etc.
I bought this phone cause the lousy Straighttalk Sprint or ATT phones, whatever it was, couldn't get a signal where we live. I wished Walmart and Straight Talk both would make it not so difficult to buy or find a phone that works on Verizon's network for those of us that need Verizon. Overall the phone is great!
This phone is a great value and I am very pleased. My husband will NOT change with the times and get a different style phone. He only likes the flip style, and this is perfect for him. The camera even takes really nice pictures. If you just want a simple, easy to use phone for calls and texting, then this is the phone for you!
The price is good. It is not complicated and it has every feature I want in a cell phone. It is small and easy to carry with you at all times. I'm almost 80 and have no need for all the features on the new smart phones. This is a perfect phone for people like me.
With moderate hearing loss in both ears, I simply cannot use a "flat" phone - I need a flip phone so that I can isolate the speaker over my ear and actually hear. Although this phone has a very rudimentary web browser, the lack of a keyboard makes actually using it cumbersome at best but then, that's not why I bought it. Buttons are large enough to see, menu is fairly simple and setup of the phone itself was a breeze - not so much with the Straight Talk account itself. If there is a drawback to the phone, it is a relatively minor one but one which could easily be fixed. The two default menu items are "menu" and "browser". Well, as already mentioned, I can't imagine the so called browser feature being used much, if at all. I would much prefer that the other default option be "contacts" as I use that feature all the time. To get to contacts requires going to the menu, selecting the contact icon, then selecting "list of contacts" and then finding your desired name. This is an item which should be user programmable. While I eventually got the Straight Talk side of this working, it was not without some drama including being billed twice for the initial month and then spending two hours on my home phone (because calls to ST do use your minutes!) to get a refund for the double bill. The people at ST tried to tell me the phone wouldn't work with the $30 a month plan even though it was printed right on the box. Then they tried to tell me you can't port over a phone number from a prepaid Verizon phone - you can. My phone is running off the Verizon network - very reliable in our area and call quality has been excellent, never lose signal and the phone does an admirable job as a cell phone. People do ask me why I'm still using old tech like a flip phone then I tell them I've been using portable cell phones since the days of the brick style - unfortunately younger folks have no idea what I'm talking about.
Got this phone for my 86 y/o mother and she loves it. It has a more solid feel than her last one (Motorola). Buttons are easy to see and use. Like all the short cuts to get to phone numbers. Less searching the easier it is for her. Overall, a good phone.
I have used Straight Talk for over a year now and this is my second phone. I like it because it uses Verizon towers, my old Straight Talk phone used AT&T. With this phone I get coverage everywhere I go, with the AT&T I did not! It does not have a lot of features, but that is ok with me I just use it for voice calling. My main disappointment is that the front screen is not always light meaning you must open the phone to check the time.
Received in 2 days! Good price. Just a basic phone for talking and very short text messages. There are very limited options for changing the shortcut keys. Thus, getting to contacts list is a multi-step task that is problematic for someone who is used to the down toggle pulling up that list. For that reason alone, I'll keep looking for a good CDMA basic phone for an older person.
Extremely poor signal reception--cannot make or receive calls from my home on this phone and takes a few tries to even send texts out (didnt have this problem w any previous phones at same location, even same manufacturer as this one-samsung) have spent prob a total of 3 hours on cust service over approx 6 different calls just to get phone to transfer balance days and activate properly-still cannot set up my voice mail account but frankly tired of calling to try to straighten problem out.also will NOT send ANY picture messages or download any even if i go to a full-bars service location !! HATE it!! only thing decent is like the pre programed ring tone variety and the camera takes pretty clear pics... also-- battery has to be charged very very frequently--more often than any phone ive ever owned , even with no use it needs charged at least twice a day...
1. was listed as having a MP3 play and WI-FI, did not have. 2. would not show airtime minutes. 3. when I picked up phone to answer a call touching the buttons on the side canceled the call. 4. menus are very complicated to use. 5. ring volume was very low, I missed some calls. was very disappointed with Samsung quality.
