I had the Samsung Galaxy s3 and I really liked that phone. It's was time to upgrade so I bought a Samsung galaxy s4 this time. Its a great phone for me, its a lot like the s3 but better, better camera, bigger screen, batteries better and last longer. Would buy another one
I've had Straight Talk for two years. Wanted a higher end phone and this S4 was an excellent choice. Three minute phone call to Straight Talk activated phone and transferred my existing number and auto refill. Dazzling display and a great camera. Voice calls are good. Get full 4G almost everywhere I go. Can't think of any cons.
Upgraded from the S3, that I thought was a great phone. Well the S4 is so much better. I would recommend this phone to anyone. Runs at 4G or HSPA+, both are lightning fast running on AT&T towers. PRO's - Camera, 13 MP, photos are sharp and clear - Video is HD and clear with great voice pickup - Quad Core processor is lightning fast - Fast access to memory card - Display is dynamic, the best resolution I have seen. Samsung's in general have great displays - Wifi is fast and runs the new ac. - New Speakers are a least twice as loud and many time clearer, very little of the tinny sound - More features on Keyboard including always having numerals on keyboard - Add this to all the features of the Samsung Galaxy S3 CONS - So far none In summary, if you are looking for a great smartphone at a respectable price this Samsung S4 is a winner and well worth looking into.
Have been using Straigh Talk for 5 years and you just can't beat it. I just needed to upgrade from my Nokia to a smart phone with either IOS or Android OS and I have friends and relatives who have Galaxy phones and they are very happy with them. I have only been using mine for a couple of weeks, but so far it has certainly done everything I expected.
This is an upgraded version of my old Galaxy phone, but pretty much the same phone...except the phone is way bigger and the camera is way better. I ordered the same phone for my husband- he loves it as it is typical to his last phone...therefore there is no learning curve...which we like. We are not high-tech users, we talk, text, take pics, check the weather and stuff. It's not our main computer source. I can't figure out how to turn off interpretive text and how to get the camera to zoom in...must have changed a setting while I was setting it up. Other than that it is a great phone...easy to use, huge screen, fast, plenty of storage space - I take and send a lot of pictures. It also comes with the Easy Settings option for us older people who like big icons and only a few, not a bunch of tiny icons crammed on the screen. This would even make a great phone for a first time smart phone user.
This phone is a step up from my LG 38C. It has more bells and whistles than the S3 but not quite as many as the S5. I was especially impressed with the photo quality. This phone has numerous features and capabilities. I discovered by accident that I could use it as a remote control for my TV. Aside from all the extras, as a phone it works great. Sound quality is excellent and the speaker phone sounds like you're talking to someone standing next to you. I'm still learning it's features and capabilities. I bought it at Wal Mart priced at $450.00 which was the best price I could find on a new one. There were used and refurbished ones on eBay that were priced lower but I was leery to buy one of them. The sales representative at Wal Mart asked if I needed help getting it activated. I told him yes, and he took care of it for me. I was transferring my number from my old phone to the new one so he said it could take a few hours for the change to take effect. About 3 hours later my new phone was activated and ready to use. If you purchase a new smartphone regardless of make or model, I strongly suggest protecting it with a case and screen protector. Accessories are available just about everywhere for the Samsung Galaxy phones. I found a nice case for it in Dollar Tree. It fits perfectly. How can you go wrong for a dollar? See photo
I purchased the S4 when it went on sale for $150. The S4 I purchased uses AT&T's cell towers. The phone has an older Android software version (4.3) which runs all my apps except for one. You cannot upgrade the phone's Android version. I was surprised at how quickly the battery drained with minimal use. I had to recharge every 24-hours and I don't use the phone that much. I installed an app that helps manage this issue now I can go 2 or 3 days between charges. Overall an excellent phone for the money.
While I loved what this phone was capable of doing, it ended up being completely useless as a PHONE. The reception was so bad that it took about 5 minutes to send a simple text and I could never get more than 2 bars... half the time I had no service at all. I spoke to a couple of people at Straight Talk, but their solution to give me a new SIM card only made the situation worse. Samsung would not help me since it is not a contract phone, so my feelings about both, Samsung and Straight Talk took a nose dive after this experience. I've had phones that I paid just $30 for that had excellent reception in my area, not sure why this phone was such a waste of money and my time spent trying to resolve the issue. I returned it today.
Found out after buying it that it didn't work in the area I needed it, NO SIGNAL, and I had mentioned this to Straight Talk reps before I bought the phone sine a couple of years ago I had another phone with at&t service that didn't work where I need it. The phone was returned and I bought a Galaxy 3, which works much better, no problem with coverage areas however it loses sounds as in doesn't ring and when I call someone I can't hear them and they can't hear me. Talked with Samsung and was told to get my carrier to update the software and if that didn't work, to return the phone. Called Straight Talk and all they wanted to do was bring the phone back to factory settings - didn't matter that Samsung tried it and it didn't work, then finally a supervisor told me that Straight Talk doesn't update software on their phones, over theair or net. If this continues, I will return the phone and get another.
Before purchasing this phone, I put my zip code in to make certain service would be available in my area, and got a yes response. When the phone arrived and I attempted to activate the phone, there were issues. I contacted Straight Talk by phone and after 35 minutes on the phone eventually learned that this phone is serviced by an AT&T tower that was not available to provide service in my area. I shared I had checked this on the Walmart website before purchasing and was informed this was a Walmart error. While that was all very frustrating, I will share that the service desk assistance was very kind and efficient in processing my refund, and I was able to purchase a different style phone that does work in my area.
