This video monitor is great - small, very flexible so you can balance it on just about anything and angle it to watch your baby. Protect the battery life of the handset by charging it only when needed and using the video feature only when needed.
Excellent picture, even in the dark. Truly portable. (We returned another one that was called portable-but had to be plugged in all the time) Gives peace of mind while baby sleeps and mom and dad try to get things done around the house.
I have had this product for nearly 3 years and (knock on wood) have NOT had any issues with it. I have kept it plugged in consistently for the three years and has not died on me yet. The angle on the lens is wide enough for me to monitor almost the entire proximity of my daughter's room, which is upstairs. It allows me to remain downstairs and do my chores without worrying too much of what she's up to in her room.
I am proud that i bought this product. If i had the option to buy abother product or buy the same one, I would buy the same one. Its good picture quality and the monitor reaches really far. I like being able to watch my daughter to make sure she is sleeping.
This is my second purchase of this monitor. I have a second child, and wanted another for my new baby. I still use the old one for my older son. The older one was great and held up very well until just recently when the sound wouldn't come in on the lower settings. We used it for about 2 years though, and it was put through alot, so I figured it's due to stop working perfectly. I liked it so I bought another from Wal-Mart because I can take it back if it doesn't work when I get it home or breaks. The major baby store no longer allows returns after you open the box which is crazy because not all monitor work in every house... it's trial and error, so not being able to return something is not okay with me!
We have been using this product for almost a year now and have had no problems. We bought a Mobi video monitor first and hated it! Then we found this one and we like it much better. The color isn't just real crisp but honestly it is always dark in the baby's room when we use it anyways so that doesn't matter. I just keep it plugged in bedside all night and it works great. Note: The battery does run down fast if you have it unplugged and have the video on. I think for the price this is definitely a good monitor.
We used this with our first child and it really helped calm my nerves! He was very sick and projectile vomitted for his entire first year. He was constantly in and out of the hospital and so the only way I was going to have him sleep in his own room was if I could physically see him. It was soo calming to see that he was okay if I heard him cough or anything. The picture was always clear and I recommended this to everyone I knew. The only thing that I would change on this would be to have the battery either last longer, or be available to buy a new one when this one died. Ours lasted about a year and a half. The company replaced it and it was back to new. The cord is now getting difficult to connect to recharge...almost like it's got a short in it...we've had it for 3 years. We just had our 2nd child and so we bought another one so that we had a second camera in her room and a back up handset when the 1st one dies completely. So, other than it not lasting as long for the money, we still love this, or else we wouldn't have bought another one!
We were happy for the most part with this monitor. It had occational static in the 2 different locations in which we lived.(a house and an apartment) When it isn't plugged in the screen turns off after a minute but you learn to turn it back on. The battery lasts decently long. It is a little creepy that other people can see your baby if they are close and have the same monitor.(We never experienced this problem) I really want another video monitor less than 200 dollars but the MobiCam is Worse and we don't really want to buy another one of these b/c it died after 1 and a half years. But to be fair most days it was on 24/7. Just know that it might die and buy the extended warrenties if you can and save your reciept. This has very finicky reviews but we haven't found anything better.
I got this as an unregistered baby shower item and thought the video was not needed. Nonetheless, my husband convinced me to keep it - and I fell in LOVE with the video monitor. The color screen (even in the daytime) was only ever a pale hint of color, but the black & white was fine for viewing the baby and served the purpose. We put up with the STATIC which was irritating but worth it for seeing our baby. The static woke me on more than a few occasions. THE TROUBLE STARTS with the volumn dial. It becomes impossible to adjust and you eventually lose the sound (most important feature!). Summer Infant customer service first tells you to blow air on the dial (believe me, I'm not making this up...), and it temporarily fixes the problem. When that no longer worked, I called again to do a warranty claim to find our warranty was expired. There are two ways they honor the warranty: (1) 12 months after manufacturer or (2) 12 months after your purchase with the ORIGINAL RECEIPT. We found that our manufacturer warranty conveniently expired one month BEFORE our baby was born - so because it sat on a shelf and expired we were required to have a receipt. As it was a gift, this was not an option for us. The rep told me we qualified for a discount purchase program so I was a sucker and bought a monitor direct from the company. When it showed up, the monitor was dinged & scratched. After calling customer service AGAIN, I was told it was re-furbished (NOT a fact previously told to me). I sent it back and am waiting on my refund for the "new" monitor. What a pain...who has time to deal with this stuff???
This is our second pink video monitor. This is the second one that worked for a day or two then out went the picture. However, the silver one that we have works great. I'm beginning to think it's the pink ones. We've even tried to move it around the house, turn off cordless phones and other products that might interfere (like the silver one) but it didn't help.
