Perfect for our moderate sized front yard

The assembly was very simple taking about 10 minutes to do. Love that the mower can adjust to 3 different heights. The only down comment I would have is that the where the basket hangs on the top seems to constantly fall off and it has to be re-hooked. Other than that I love this mower.

Good quality and works well

Almost all the grass clippings seem to collect on the left side of the grass catcher. I have to stop and shove it over to the right before I can continue mowing. Since this is a manual mower, even tiny twigs can stop the reel blade from cutting. I wish they could design it to cut edge-to-edge, including the area taken up by the wheels.

Great little mower!

This little mower is awesome! Perfect for just about everything! I have over an acre now I do use a riding mower, but bought this for the fenced in "dog yard" and all the trim work around trees and plants etc. Different height setting allow for that perfect cut. Cuts evenly and easily. Easy to push and of course saves on gas and the bulkiness of a gas push mower. I do however have to say the so called "bag" on this could use a different design as you do tend to kick it and it does fall off a good bit so I just use it without the bag. Other than that I have no issues. With that being said I definitely recommend this mower! I actually prefer it over the gas powered push mower we still have.

A competent back up mower

I own a gasoline powered lawn mower. My lawn is medium sized that is roughly evenly leveled. Half of the year my gasoline lawn mower is stored away. I needed a mower that I could use as a back up for when my gasoline mower is stored away. With the rotating blades appropriately adjusted along the bedknife the MJ501M cuts very well and evenly. I make sure that the lawn is not too tall and is clear of twigs. The grass catcher does not snap off, it does a good job of catching grass, a small percentage of grass does not land in the grass catcher. The MJ501M is lightweight easy to store and has done a good job of cutting my lawn. The MJ501M reel mower is a great back up mower, it has even drawn interest from some of my neighbors.

Love this mower

Love this mower! It was super easy to put together, very easy to adjust and does a great job on my small yard. I've had other reel mowers but this is my first one with a grass catcher which I LOVE - no more raking and as I run into rocks, pine cones, or twigs I can just pick them up and throw them in the catcher. Really really pleased with my purchase.

works well but not perfect

Grass catcher is a wretched design that doesn't work well. All the clippings collect directly behind the cutting reel instead of going to the back of the catcher so it clogs up immediately. Other than that it is machine the does what it is supposed to do quite well. It did the first cut of the year on the lawn and got the uneven grass to be a nice even lawn.

Good for the price

I just wanted a manual push mower that would allow me to cut my lawn on the house I lease, and this works fine so far. I've only used it once, but other than not being able to keep the grass catcher on the back, I didn't have any problems. It arrived a day later than promised (I paid extra for early delivery) but obviously that doesn't have anything to do with the actual lawnmower. Good for the price so far.
