The Bad ... Bar and chain assembly the hardest part . Once that is set up and adusted, add oil. (The oil reservoir doesn't show the oil level accurately ... maybe it's the oil I'm using. Easy to unscrew oil cap and check reservoir anytime.) The Good ... Light. Easy to use for limbs. I have 4 cords of seasoned Cherry Wood limbs 1" to 10" diameter most 3" to 5" diameters by approximately 4 ft. lengths in a pile. This little saw is PERFECT for zipping through those limbs. Easy to control. Check chain tension every 2 oil fill ups or so. Loosen bar Nut .. turn chain adjust Screw to Right to make chain tight.. tighten bar Nut. Amazing Little Saw .. I just can't believe how well it works!!! My 440 Magnum Stihl I can retire now. At least for limbs. Too noisy, heavy, gas/oil mix, and a pain to start at times. The Sunjoe with Oregon Bar and Chain.. plug in .. pull trigger .. no earplugs :)
Requires assembly and a friend helped out with the chain and blade. Light weight enough and it is effective. I got it on sale and very pleased.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We were so glad to get this product because our trees needed some trimming. This made it way easier to accomplish what we needed to in the yard. First of all, it's pretty easy to put together. It comes with a little tool to aid in putting it together which is great because I didn't need to get out my tools to find the right size to get it out together. You will need to get some oil and a nice extension cord before you will be able to use it though. The cord that come off the back end is pretty short and a long extension cord is needed. It is a powerful chainsaw that worked really well for our needs trimming up our trees. Be careful of the kickback while working.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've been looking for a smaller chainsaw, as the bigger one I have is hard to use when up in the trees or climbing to get to limbs. Besides this one being electric, the ease of using on small bushes, limbs, trees, and smaller areas makes it ideal for those who have smaller jobs outside to get done. It's lightweight, the set up was easy too. This really has helped me get my much needed smaller projects done. I can't wait to see it even more outside when the weather warms up. The smaller size doesn't make it have less power either. It still packs quite a bit of power. It's easier to carry around and lighter weight too. I like that it isn't very bulky so that I can store it away and have it when I need to use it.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I never thought we would prefer an electric chainsaw over our gas one but I think I do after using the Sun Joe. First, no fumes which means we can cut wood inside on bad weather days. The saw is so easy to setup and use compared to a gas model, not much to do other than filling the oil reservoir and plugging it in. The blade came with the chain zip tied so no guessing on how to put it on, great for anyone who hasn't used one before. There is an included hex key wrench that can be used on the cover nut or to tighten the tensioning but there is no place on the saw to hold it so I had to put it in my pocket instead. The oil level is easy to check, the saw has a clear indicator window so you know when to fill it during use. The saw has a safety lock you press to use and when you release the trigger it shuts off which means I worry less about accidentally getting cut. Now the important part, this saw really surprised me with how easy it went through small trees and branches without any hesitation. The need for a power cord was what once held me back from buying an electric saw but seeing how great this works and using my portable generator with it further from my house, my old saw will be gathering dust. Great saw with the power to cut through wood cleanly and quietly.
Great price and a durable little saw
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I really appreciated this chain saw after the 2023 central Texas ice storm this past February. We had extensive tree limb damage and used this chainsaw to help cut things into manageable pieces for disposal. It works great and is really intuative and simple to use. Cons: It doesn't come with an chain oil, which is fine, but since I unpacked this during the ice storm, it caused me to wait a couple more days to be able to use it. This isn't bad, just something to be aware of.
Great little chainsaw. Got this on sale and had mixed expectations, but I had wood in the yard that was up to 12" diameter and it chewed right through it. It was a little clunky putting the saw together to get the pin into the metal blade and tighten it up, but once I figured it out it went very easy. Comes with a handy tool for assembly, and would have thought they would have made a clip or carriage for keep the tool on the chainsaw if it even needs adjusting. One nice feature is the extended sprocket from the housing. I found this incredibly beneficial and easy to hold the saw and work it into the wood. Outside of the minor nuances of putting this together it handled amazingly well and thus the 5 start rating.
This is a great buy. It works well for small to medium size jobs. Be aware that it doesn't come with any chain oil which must be used before operating. You'll need to buy some if you plan to use it right after you get it home.
the saw worked well for the small trees i needed to cut
