The amount of moisture it puts out is great! I like that it has a high setting for more output, and a low setting for a more quiet operation. It is not easily moved from one area to another without spilling water everywhere. Refilling the water containers is easy and takes very little time to do so. I have not replace the filter yet, but the instructions claim it is very easy too.
Living in the Texas Panhandle with humidity running between 10 and 20 percent most of the time, we needed something to help us breathe better. This humidifier has done that for us. We ran it on high with the "stay on" feature for 24 hours then turned it to "low @ 45%". When the humidity in the house reaches 45% it automatically shuts off then turns back on when the humidity drops below 45%. Just fill the tanks up before bedtime and forget about it until the next evening. I haven't had it long enough to change the filter, but it looks simple enough.
I have not had a lot of luck with humidifiers and I have owned small one gallon and large cabinet style humidifiers. Winters in Minnesota bring many cold, dry days and my skin and house plants have paid the price. I was hesitant to spend ninety bucks on a "whole house" machine and had my doubts that this one would do the job. I was in for a nice surprise! It has two fan speeds, high and low. It is somewhat noisy on high speed but I soon found that the very quiet low speed would actually do the job. It puts 2+ gallons of water into the air every 24 hours in my small apartment. No more electric sparks when I touch a light switch, no more scaly skin and I can even see a nice improvement in my house plants. The two 1 gallon water containers are easily refillable and the machine is not hurt if I forget to refill it on time....it just blows dry air. It runs 24 hours a day and it is one of the best investments I have made!
Great humidifier very quiet on low setting does the job well drinks lots of water=humidity. Large water tanks easy to fill last 24hrs or more on low setting humidity stabilizes in medium room after 24 hrs and unit will shut off at 45% setting Make sure humidifier is on a hard and level surface to keep water tray full around entire wic. Remove water tanks when moving humidifier to different locations. I used a humidistat to monitor the room.
After easy initial set-up in the living room, within a very short time the humidity had risen in the living room and all the bedrooms. The settings were at the lowest level.
Love the humidifier works great, only issue is finding the filters. I sent this to my mother as a gift. I shipped to store and told her when she picked it up to make sure Walmart sold the filters there. When I ordered the humidifier online there should have been an option to order additional filters but there wasn't. She couldn't find any, when I check online for the filters I cant locate any. She's only had it for a couple of weeks and I'm sure she'll need new filters soon. Not sure what to do now.
I bought the unit Two weeks ago. Oct. 2012. So far the unit has provided enough humidity in the house to make a noticeable difference. The only con I have is I would like to have a "med" setting on the fan as opposed to only a high and low setting. Otherwise I would recommend it. My house is about 2000 sq feet and it seems to benefit all the rooms.
Design: I choose this model partly because of the attractive design - it was not so much raw plastic box. Position:The humidifier is easy to set up, but it must be on a level surface. If you have carpet, place humidifier on a piece of board to keep a level surface for the water bottles. Function: The appliance has a quiet mode which is acceptable. The humidity percentage can be changed, but I keep mine @ 60% to get maximum comfort. Water Capacity: The bottles should have larger capacity so that refill can last 3-4 days. Overall Rating: The best I have seen under Bionaire and Sunbeam labels this year. Recommendation: Suitable for a small house of 1200-1500 sq.ft. For larger homes you will need two to maintain the humidity on two levels.
This unit is messier than i thought. It is louder than I thought and the air is very cold. I think if I had it to do over I would spend a little more and get something better quality. This is fine but during the winter months having that cold air blowing... yeah very uncomfortable... Maybe I'll like it more this summer.
Probably the worst designed humidifier I've ever used. Small water capacity doesn't last 24 hours. Squirrel cage fan is really loud and rattles badly at the lowest setting. Tanks hold about a pint of unusable water at the bottom which could fester all sorts of nasty stuff. Tanks rest on a flimsy tab that catches the fill cap which prevents the tanks from falling back. Just returned this humidifier after a few days of frustration.
