Had 2 other brands without the ss electrodes, they eventually wore out. So, for $10 on clearance and ss electrodes this is a winner! Raises my humidity 20 points within an hour.
In a world of complicated gadgets the last thing you need when you're feeling poorly is complication. This unit is ready to use and "very" inexpensive... Perfect!
You get what you pay for. It's basically a water heater that produces steam for a long time. You can't control how much steam it produces or turn it off without unplugging it. But if all you need is a cheap humidifier through the night, this is perfect.
This is a simple appliance with nothing to breakdown. Soon or later, in a few years the heating element will burn out but at the cost if you get 5+ years out of it you are way ahead. I have had several ultrasonic humidifiers and two years is their lifespan at 5 to 6 times this price..
I use an appliance timer and place near furnace intake so I get whole house boiling water vapor, no filters to replace
I bought this unit because it has stainless steel electrodes. I live in a hard water area and regular electrodes corrode quickly. The unit runs well and quiet. Just a little white noise caused by the boiling water. Price is low. It does not have a light if that is important to you. The round shape makes it awkward to carry from sink to room and the opening is small which will make it hard to clean. Otherwise it does it's job.
I was really looking for it to lasting 24 hours before refilling it. No such luck. It needs to be refilled much more often. There is no leak. It just has to be refilled a lot. I gave it such a low rating because that is what I was looking for in this product. I really have no idea about the energy efficiency of this product. It was inexpensive compared to others. But...when a product doesn't perform as expected then it is a waste. I would return it, but I am just tired of returning things to Walmart.
The vaporizer has to literally be right under your nose to feel the steam. And then you have to put up with the smell of plastic and whatever toxic chemicals going along for the ride from whatever the plastic is composed of. Sure there is a "compartment" for essential oils but it's only a little indentation on top that just holds a little and sits there. The little bit of steam does nothing to dispense it. Not enough for the oils to work or even mask out that plastic smell. Nothing against Walmart. The item came fast. It's the item I recommend you pass on. I think I'll look into getting a bamboo (or as natural as I can find) diffuser for the oils and/or the best humidifier I can find.
I GOT IT AND WHEN I PUT IT ON IT SPIT HOT WATER ALL OVER IM NOT SURE ID EVER USES IT AGAIN BECAUSE OF THAT REASON----I GET THINGS ALL THE TIME FROM WALMART AND THIS IS THE FIRST TIME I HAVENT BEEN HAPPY -----
it worked once, after being cleaned and refilled, would not work again. instrucitons say to add pinch of salt, does not work! do not buy!
