I bought these and some plastic ones at the same time, so I could see which I liked best. These won, hands down. I like the length also. I had some 14" ones that I was using, but they kept bumping into the couch cushions behind me. This length is good for items where the cast-on is shorter, like a scarf or afgan squares.
Pleased with the shorter style. Holding kneedle is easier and not awkward with the longer style ones.
I was having a really hard time finding *inexpensive* knitting needles. Plus, I was not sure what the sizes where. This was my best bet since I had three sizes to choose from. Might have been better if they were 9, 10 and 11! Teaching the grandkids how to knit ... bigger is better. :D
