An extremely handsome tree. Taller than it is wide, it will grow up to 75 feet tall. Foliage turns brilliant yellow, scarlet or purple in the fall. Leaves are starlike, resembling a maple, with 3-7 toothed lobes. Small flowers appear in dense globe-shaped clusters. Fruit is prickly, brown and globe-shaped. Good street trees, effective in tall screens or groves. Native to the Eastern U.S. Grows 6-10 inches per year. Low temperature tolerance of -20 degrees Fahrenheit. Give a tree seedling as a gift!
